/It had been a particularly stressful day to cap off an incredibly frustrating week and Ayden had been restraining the urge to hurl someone through a window since Monday morning. It was now Friday night. She supposed she should have come home and gotten to work on her thesis outline that was due Monday, but at the moment she couldn’t bring herself to care. Between the shit-ton of homework and the issues at work, she wanted nothing more than to shut off her brain and sleep for the next century.
She dropped her backpack in the hall and walked straight through the cramped apartment to the bathroom, stripping off her clothes as she went. In the bathroom she turned to the tiny apartment’s only redeeming feature, it’s massive bathtub. Her girlfriend would frown at her and say something about wasting so much water on a luxury, but at the moment, Ayden just couldn’t bring herself to care.
She turned on the taps, more hot than cold, poured a liberal amount of lavender scented bubble bath into the steam and started undoing her ratty bun and combing out the snarls that had formed during the day. When the tub was full of steaming water, she shut off the taps, twisted her hair up into another, neater bun before climbing in.
She eased herself into the steaming, bubbly, fragrant water and groaned in ecstasy. The hot water soothed her tight muscles and the tension headache that had been growing steadily in pain since Tuesday morning started to ease.
Ayden leaned her head back against the rim and stared around the sparse bathroom. She really needed to paint the walls, the white had always annoyed her and was starting to chip and peel in some places. Maybe a nice sage green, something to go with the blue bathtub, but not now. That was a worry for another day. Right now she was not going to think of anything even remotely resembling work of any kind.
She supposed she must have dozed off because she was roused by the creak of her front door opening and a familiar woman’s voice calling for her.
“Ayden? You home?”
“Bathtub!” she called back. The water was still so warm and cozy, even if most of the bubbles had dissipated and her fingers were wrinkled. She closed her eyes and listened for the padding of bear feet across her hall.
The bathroom door swung open and Andrea poked her head inside. The dark skinned woman smirked and entered the room, shutting the door behind her. Ayden opened one eye to look up at her, noting the sparkle in the woman’s eye and almost-leer in her smirk. She quirked an eyebrow at her. “See something you like?” she asked.
“Oh most definitely,” Andrea replied. “Mind if I join you?” the suggestion of a leer bloomed and sent a shot of heat down Ayden’s spine to her groin.
She smiled up at Andrea, “Not at all.”
