Entering the Clare Valley was a day where a perfect puzzle was constructed. The weather had calmed down and spared us moments where the sun was shielded by clouds. We arrived into the first town off the Eyre Highway venturing on the Eye Peninsula sticky, dirty and thirsty. Thankfully, we found ourselves a fabulous caravan park in Streaky Bay where we could back the Express up onto the beach and have some ocean front views. I can’t say that this was a highlight of the trip for me. I can say however that it was so much less painless than crossing the Stuart south to north of this massive country. Kalgoorlie is THE gold rush success town. It has been in the process of being mined for almost 100 years and they are still going strong somehow. People tell stories of the early days where they stubbed their toe and found 25 kg of gold. In one piece.
