"I feel like Alfred in the Batcave for the first time"

How amazing is this show? Seriously, I love it more and more each week and I didn't think that was possible. In a sort of haphazard way -

- The case was really interesting. Some of the past few weeks I could call who it was going to be from the beginning, but I had no idea with this one. I really loved the Grandpa. He did the legwork to figure out where his daughter was and then he got justice. I particularly liked the scene where he spun the 'hypothetical' situation, the look on Beckett's face was really telling as to her feelings. And the part in the car where she says that's the difference between a book and real life - absolute gold!

- Alexis continues to be made of awesome. When she went up to the refrigerator and inquired about if he was trying to figure out how to kill someone again and then helped him with the case - yay! Finally a show that actually does 'the kid' right.

- Det. Ryan has stolen a place in my heart! :D Alien abductions, other dimensions, getting coffee and fighting Sleestacks! lol

- Laser tag is so cool! They were fighting for the galaxy! And the look on Beckett's face! I love this whole scene, between the awkward family (w/ Kate) meeting and the office walkthrough. The fact that she went to him for help shows how much has changed since the pilot, and that he understood and took it seriously - perfect. Their facial expressions when they were trying to figure out how to get the body out of the apartment were AWESOME! :D

- Role playing. OMG, how great of a married couple would they be? There'd be bickering and kitchen snarking and simultaneous talking and bathrooms! Ah! Seriously, this was perfect. When they each picked up a pot/pan! And slamming the door on the poor guy. :D

- And then comes the end - when we find out exactly what makes Kate Beckett tick. I posted a theory post where I said my top pick was a fiance/boyfriend, but this works so much better. My heart just broke when she was telling Castle about her mom. I can understand how that would eat at her enough to want to go out and make sure it never happens to someone else. And her dad...wow, I was definitely tearing up. I love that the watch is for 'the life she saved' and her mom's wedding ring is 'the life she lost'. Beautiful and very real - you don't get that in television very often.

- The acting in this episode was off the charts. Nathan continues to be gold, but Stana really shined. From the comedic points like the role-playing, the expressions in Castle's apartment and the gut-wrenching drama throughout (especially the last scene) it was all done exceptionally well.

Overall - my absolute favorite episode (I think all the others are tied for second place). And on a superficial note - I would like all of Beckett's wardrobe and Castle's laser tag gear, thank you Santa. :)
