Wow! I'd forgotten about that Kara quote (None of us belong here.) Awesome, awesome. Now I'm going to go back to re-examine it in context. Yes, I am a nerd.
or marrying people just because they're there. Just wanting motion. That was SUCH a chilling scene between the Chief and the Admiral. Was it on your journal, where someone commented that the Admiral really identifies with the Chief's situation, because losing Laura might be like losing Cally

Btw, about the cylons possibly being able to "turn their brains off" (which I think humans can sort of do, though maybe we wouldn't call it that). Do you remember Kara torturing Leoben, and trying to get him to "switch off" the pain? And he didn't want to do it, because it would prove that he was a "machine" rather than a man.
Also: The cylons have an odd attraction to each other--esp. the 7 with the final five. Boomer/Tyrol and Six/Tigh. Plus, there's Boomer/Cavil--urggh, yuck. (Thrace and Leoben have a strong connection as well, but I don't think she's a cylon.)
omg I LOVE your take on the themes of this episode! (and tying it to Buffy musical = WIN)
I had heard vague unsubstantiated rumor that Tyrol contemplates killing his son, and the Abraham reference would be fitting for the current direction of the show. Though tying it in with the Biblical seemed thematically off to me. Putting it in these terms, it seems a bit more in line with Tyrol's actual character arc.
For her, "pleasure" creates "perfection." I am with you on the need for rewatch. I had interpreted that perfection implied pleasure, and that being all perfect, everything was inherently pleasurable simply because it exists, whether or not we interpret it that way. or yknow, the mirror of what you said. now I'm not sure-- must rewatch.
Woah, what you've just said is awesome! So, it's not only that pleasure creates perfection, but also that perfection constitutes pleasure. Tory is so scary! With that line of thinking, she could justify anything to herself. (Including murder. Did you notice how nonchalant she genuinely was at Cally's funeral? Muttering to Laura about "why they have to do these things at dawn." I think they're trying to downplay her relationship with Laura, even while giving little signs that it exists. That arm-grip, for example. I think whatever crazy stuff Tory does, it will ultimately impact Laura more than anyone else. RDM just wants to save this, so he can suddenly whip out the big guns and surprise us later on

Tory is so scary- scary hot! XD had to, couldn't resist. yeah she was definitely casual at the funeral. I liked that they showed her talking to Laura, almost like a reference what Tory's life is about and what she'd be protecting. I SO agree they are downplaying. I wonder if that's about showing how completely Laura trusts her? like, business as normal, their relationship flying under the radar like Tory's cylonity (it is a word! I read "cylonity" in someone's post, must scour my flist for cred). Plus, I think the cylon blind spot is going to be used as symptom of Laura's descent into fascism as her impending death prompts her to gather more political power as psychological defense. The eventual and necessary reveal will have to be giant wake-up call that as she tries to push away real issues of day to day life by hoarding power, she neglects to see the reality around her

Hera has to be on Starship Special DestinyLOL! I love it that you've named the ship "Starship Special Destiny," that's frakkin' hilarious. And, thank you for pointing out Hera's location, because I hadn't thought that all the way through. :D
