Dean as Persephone, from a reference in tonight’s episode. Do I get extra points for making a Biblical masturbation reference? ;)

It was said that a deal was made and the earth was split open and he was taken down, down, down to the underworld by the fallen one.

His brother searched the whole wide world for him. Cried for him, then for death. He spilt his seed on the ground, dead, and nothing grew. It was said that he forgot about life on earth. He forgot about everything but the end, and his missing brother.

It was said that god sent the messenger to find him, and he did, strong and true. “I bring you peace,” he said. “I bring you love, and forgiveness, and hope.” He said.

Dean said, “Yes.”

The reunited brothers rejoiced in an embrace, and life began again. But it was a single embrace, for the seeds were weak and vulnerable now; the black-eyed crows came to eat their fill, and the white-winged doves. Nowhere was safe; nowhere was home.

In time, all that was starting to grow began to slowly die. Winter was coming upon the brothers, and upon the world. Winter was growing between them, and all that had once been heat, and passion, and fire was now growing cold.

In time, he foolish brother, but the truer, was taken once again by those who lorded over the underworld with gilded smiles and half-truths.

They offered him all that he’d thought he’d ever wanted, and they took away the only thing that he truly did want - he’d left his brother all alone again to spill his seed on dead earth and wait to join him in death.

The winged messenger returned again. “I bring you peace,” he said, his shoulders and eyes drooping with every word. “I bring you love, and forgiveness, and hope.” He said. Looking at the floor.

Dean said, “No.”

They offered him a buffet of cheeseburgers - steaming and juicy - and beer bottles - golden-colored and perspiring glass. It made his mouth water with the familiar but forgotten memories of a time when pure sustenance could make him happy.

The messenger made him the same offer. He did not want it. But the messenger wanted to know him so badly, wanted to see him so badly, wanted the warmth in his eyes to come back, and the warmth to come back to the world he once knew. He swore it had been real once. He swore it had been true. And hadn’t it? Hadn’t it?

Dean thought of his angel messenger, and the other angels of this gloomy golden underworld, and thought of the perfect cheeseburgers, still steaming and dripping ketchup over the edges of the melted cheese, no pickles…

“Stop,” said the messenger, as Dean brought the food to his mouth.

“Stop. If you eat that, you can never return home. You will be ours forever. You will become one of us, made to stay with us forever in our gloomy home.” The messenger cut his veins open with a knife.

“You will never see your brother again. The world will die.” The messenger painted his blood on the wall, protecting him with his power.

“The god of lightning and sky will not come and save us. We will be on our own this time. Maybe forever.” He said, voice no longer wavering.

“As always,” Dean answered, his voice steady as well. “But I will stay with you.”

The winged messenger nodded and lowered his eyes, this time in reverence. “Then I will guide you back to your brother.”

It was said then the earth split open, and life returned to what had once been lost. The brothers of earth were reunited, and though they did not embrace, all hope was not gone from the world. The winged angel messenger would stop all those who would stand in their way.

It was said then the earth split open, and the brothers of the gloomy and golden underworlds returned to claim what they had wanted as well.

None of it was peace.

And the Winter will burn with the Summer, and the Summer will freeze with the Winter, and none of it will be peace.
