Now is the time when I put on a movie and catch stitch down all my bodice facings. Later this afternoon will be the time when I whip stitch on my skirts. Today is the day I put two completed things together to make an even more complete thing. And maybe a zipper.

Speed to the needle!

I've put the wedding dress together and a broiderie anglaise top! Sounds more dramatic than it really is, as the bodice of the wedding dress got put together yesterday, and it;s a very simple dress. Downside is that as it IS so simple, every stitch has to be perfect or it shows!

The broiderie anglaise it much more forgiving. Lots of embroidery to hide the wonky stitching.

That's actually a concept many people find hard to grasp, at least until it's pointed out to them: simple not only does not equate with "easy," it can be very, very demanding because there's no place to hide any mis-steps or mistakes.

Indeed. And this is satin... Actually, it's a joy to work with, but having the cat jump up on it is not exactly helpful!

Mine's surprisingly good about not trying to get up on the cutting area or on the sewing machine table, but if fabric if hanging or dangling where she can get her paws at it, then she's found a game. And if the project requires enough fabric that while I'm cutting out part of it the rest of the fabric is lying on the floor, she might hunker down on it.

Sounds good. I'm about to go back to a stiflingly hot room to complete tracing off a commercial pattern. Only three more pieces to do, thank the heavens, but if I open the south window, EVERYTHING gets blown every which way and of course everything I need to do takes just that much longer.

*thinking wishfully of a shower, a clean night shirt, and clean, cool sheets...*

Dastardly heat. We won't have any for another couple weeks yet, and after that it'll be like being in a hot oven. Fueling my idea to get more done sooner, as I despise the heat.

I'm proud of myself---just a little bit proud.
I traced off one pattern, the one for myself. It was my intention to put off tracing the second one, which is for someone else but without a near deadline for perhaps a week.
But I marched myself back into the stifling hot room which turned out to be not quite so stifling in the early morning, and just pushed through the second tracing.

Ta-dah!

By the way: **Dastardly** heat? I must remember that expression!
