That is just terrible!!! My mother's philosophy isn't the same as mine, I rather my grandmother sent me gifts or a check on my birthday or christmas... she thinks I shouldn't be receiving that at all. I am almost 28 anyways... geez!

In this case though, that has gotta hurt *SO* bad!!!!

oh man, an empty gesture indeed! I always used to take those things in stride, never letting them get to me. For the majority of my life I only knew my one grandmother, so I include her brother and sisters becasue they were like grandparents to me as well. My mother would fume when my great uncle would go out of his way to point out to the dinner table how much weight I had gained since I saw him last. I would just kind of laugh it off and chalk it up to them coming from a different 'time'. You know, a time when guys weren't supposed to take offense to things like that.

They're all dead and gone now, but this entry definitely gave me a chuckle thinking of all their antics/empty gestures/passive agressive remarks.

Aw man, that made my heart sad a bit! My dad's parents are like PRESENTS PRESENTS PRESENTS and it can be a bit ridiculous but I can't imagine something like that. It's not quite in the spirit of family, especially since most people would be just barely supporting themselves at 21, if at all. I really liked the entry, though!

No, it's not the spirit of family at all. They have a very distorted concept of what family means, I think.

I'm glad you understand that YOU are the important one. All these entries are making me realize how cool my family really is.
