Plastic recycling in Englefield Green

The banks on St Judes Road outside the cemetery don't take plastic. Or indeed much else. However there is a (hidden) plastic bank very close by. Go down South Road, and from there turn into Highfield Road. The banks are in the first recessed car park (flats 1-7 Odd) to the left.

If you go to Lyne Lane, they have a whole container that takes 'hard plastic'. I guess they go through and sort it manually. As well as a bottle bank, and a tiny foil recycling container big enough for milk tops, not all those takeaways.

Technically isn't that on RHUL property? Not sure if that is an issue or
not?

RHUL do seem to be getting into the swing of recycling. I spotted a
doodah for putting dead batteries in just by Founders reception the other
day.

It seems from my reading of committee notes last night that recycling facilities are going to be / are being sited on school grounds. Not that they told anyone.. for all I know they have been there for years? I could not find an up-to-date list of ones already installed or anything on the website! The only pdf I found was for three years ago, and at that it was wrong as the trade craft clothes bank vanished long ago..

I guess the university counts as a 'school' from policy terms. I can't see any reason why members of the general public can't use these facilities. In fact I would have expected the university to WANT the town to use it as a service to our community!

The only reason I can think of at the moment, is that the recycling stuff
is right outside student accomodation and thus they might object to random
folk coming and going at all hours of the day and night.
