Old Friends

It's sad to realize things like that. Something is always lost to time, to entropy; that's the structure of the universe.

The future, however, is malleable. Even if your resources are modest, there are usually things you could try if you want to shake things up. Visit a restaurant with totally different cuisine, or look up recipes online. Try a new ingredient. Visit a culture fair, concert, or other event for something you know nothing about. Hit a library or bookstore and look for unfamiliar topics. Check a craft store for classes or kits on a new project. Over on Dreamwidth I've got a Hobbies series going. I think all lives feel a bit small, when looked back on. Sometimes, we see the path our lives took and regret the twists and turns, but in the end, that path is what is brought us to who we are now. All we can do is our best, and hope that in the end, we leave the world bit better than we entered.

I know what you mean. Looking back we wonder how many people we knew are no longer amongst us. I can't believe that my mother and my sister have died... With twenty something you want to conquer the world and then life gets between everything. Unexpected things, unwanted things, merely shitty things. And then you feel old and no longer strong enough to change anything. It's depressing. But I still have hope. Summer is coming :)
Nice to know that you are still alive. And don't be ashamed of anything!
