Mea Culpa

So, I didn't actually handle yesterday as professionally as I could, because we had another chat today.

Apparently, she wants me to think more (probably a good call).  And she wanted everything all at once so that we'd have several days to look it over in-depth and make changes, because she hates the fact that she misses things almost as much as I ( Read more... )

You aren't sucking, you don't suck, and you will continue to not suck at your job. Errors in communication happen with anyone in any job. Thank goodness you found out you had this problem now not in a month or, worse yet, at the end of this assignment. Just think of all the lovely skills you now have to deal with the principal/director/what have you at your next place.

Anyway, I still think this supervisor lady needs to do some work as well, she knows you're learning, it's her responsibility to be on top of things, not your responsibility to already have experience with different situations.

You can do do it for another 3 weeks. Just get through it and be done with this dumb b*tch. If it would be beneficial and she would go for it, ask her to write down what it is that she wants from you, then you can always go back to that document. Some should people should be put in charge of finding land mines with toothbrushes.

It seems like she did not set clear guidelines for what she wanted from you. You also seem to have different planning style than she does. This does not mean you will make a terrible teacher and should go sell shoes at Payless. It means that you are both inexperenced - she at managing and being a mentor, and you at saying that you need more structure or whatever.

Try to learn from this, and then move on. You have three more weeks and you can do three weeks. It may be awful and frustrating, but you can do it.

Some people suck, but you, my dear, are awesome! Don't let any silly teacher ("mentor," my ass) tell you otherwise. So your lesson plans don't meet her standards - she either needs to communicate better, or allow you to make your own mistakes, or watch to see whether your plans actually WILL work, etc. Any of those are constructive options. Making you feel like crap is not constructive ( ... )

I like your mantra. It shall become mine for three weeks. Thank you for the loan. :)

But the tip drill thing won't work. I'm concentrating on relaxing with a sword on my hand, not freaking out and denting the wall. :)
