prologue chapter 1 chapter 2 Chapter 3
An hour later Yunho slipped out of the room, shutting the door behind him as quietly as he could.
"Heading out now?"
Yunho jumped a bit, startled, and turned to see Jaejoong peaking his head out of the bathroom, toothpaste foam around his mouth.
"Shhh," Yunho said, putting a finger to his lips. "Sleeping." He gestured with his head towards the door and Jaejoong shrugged and disappeared back into the bathroom.
The leader then went towards the entrance of the dorm nodding at Junsu and Changmin who were sprawled out on the living room couch watching television. He slipped into his sneakers and was surprised to find Jaejoong beside him when he looked up, putting on his own shoes.
"What are you--"
"We're going out to the airport now!" Jaejoong called out to the other two who were on the couch.
"Bye hyungs," Changmin said.
"Cya," Junsu too replied.
Jaejoong pulled Yunho by the arm and the exited the dorm.
"What are you doing?" Yunho asked as Jaejoong led him down to where the van should be waiting for him.
"Seeing you off to Japan of course. What does it look like?"
"Well that's nice of you but I can make it there on my own quite fine," Yunho chuckled, smiling down at the warmth of Jaejoong's hand pressed against his bicep.
Jaejoong stopped just as they were about to get outside and looked out the window.
"The stupid van is late," he observed. Then looked back at Yunho, "And what if I didn't care that you could make it there just fine and just wanted to spend some time with you."
"Fair enough," Yunho replied.
"You've been neglecting me," Jaejoong pouted, patting Yunho's arm after letting it go. "You're lucky I'm nice, low maintence, and not constantly seeking validation."
"Is that what you call it?"
Jaejoong just smiled coyly up at Yunho, their eyes meeting for the first time since Jaejoong pulled his slightly younger leader out of the door.
"Why haven't you kissed me yet?" Jaejoong asked.
"Maybe because I have a boyfriend," Yunho quipped back.
"Wrong answer!"
"The van's here," Yunho replied, gesturing towards the door.
Upon entering the van they both went to the furthest row in the back. The driver seemed annoyed to see Jaejoong only because it meant he'd have to make a return trip, but he said nothing, silently getting into his seat and driving off.
"Well?" Jaejoong said, looking at Yunho once the van started moving.
"Jaejoong...," Yunho leaned forward and in the back of the van shrouded by the darkness of night and tinted windows, captured Jaejoong's lips in a kiss.
It started out slow as they each savored the taste of the other. Jaejoong's arm moved up, clutching at Yunho's shoulder as the other's tongue pushed through his parted lips, catching a moan before it could spill out.
Yunho missed the familiar taste of Jaejoong and the familiar feel of him in his arms. It seemed like forever since the last time he was able to indulge in the slightly older man and if he could he'd delay his flight for hours just to stay in that moment.
The kiss was broken and Yunho didn't hesistate to press his lips against Jaejoong's jaw, then further down, nipping and licking at his neck. He felt the vibrations of the beginnings of the laugh issuing from his partner's throat.
"What's so funny?" Yunho asked, nuzzling his nose into Jaejoong's collar, taking in his scent.
"What happened to 'because I have a boyfriend'?"
Yunho didn't answer, instead moving up to catch Jaejoong's lips again in another kiss, this one with a lot more heat in it than the first slow and sensual one. But he wasn't able to avoid it since Jaejoong pushed him away.
"No really, Yunho," Jaejoong said. "I'm being serious... For a second there I thought you finally decided on being good. I should have known better than that."
Jaejoong adjusted himself in his seat so that he was no longer so close to Yunho, but they were still able to speak quietly to each other.
"You know everytime you're with me you're only proving me right. This is why we can't be together."
"Can you please stop saying that?"
"You don't have a faithful bone in your body. Good, responsible, perfect Jung Yunho. For all that he is good for I know his only flaw. Once a cheater always a cheater."
"It's only because it's you. You think I'd be doing this if it wasn't you?"
"It doesn't matter if it's me or not. The fact of the matter is you cheated and now you're cheating on Yoochun. It's wrong. You're wrong. And you can ignore it all you want but it's tearing him apart. He isn't saying anything because he trusts us. Or rather he wants to trust us. He's so insecure he doesn't want to believe what's right in front of him. He thinks he's being paranoid."
"What makes you think you know what he's thinking?"
"Because despite what I'm doing I care about him. We're soulmates and I know what he's thinking and how he feels. As his boyfriend shouldn't you too?"
Yunho rubbed his face and sighed, looking at Jaejoong,
"If you really feel that way why did you follow me out of the house today?"
Jaejoong's fingers clenched at his seat belt as he answered, "Because I missed you."
"What would you do if I refused you, if I suddenly did the right thing and ignored you?"
"I'd die of loneliness."
****
Jaejoong returned to the dorm to find it in the same state as he left it. Changmin and Junsu were still glued in front of the television and there was no sign of Yoochun. He was probably still sleeping which was a miracle, really. Yoochun was known for having a bit of trouble getting to sleep at nights so it was good he was able to get some now and be rested for when they'd return to schedules later.
Jaejoong greeted his younger members and went into the kitchen to prepare a midnight snack for when the other two got hungry. It was bound to happen. It was just a matter of when.
As he worked, chopping some cabbage, his mind drifted to the car ride with Yunho. It was hard for the leader, he knew it. And he knew he wasn't making things easier for him. It took two people to do what they were doing and he wasn't really being proactive in getting Yunho to stop cheating.
The selfish part of him was scared. He was too scared of a world where Yunho wasn't his. But wasn't that the reality he was already living? Yunho belonged to Yoochun. The decision had been made but Jaejoong couldn't help but keep thinking 'I had him first'. Which was true. Everyone knew there was some sort of past there, even if they didn't know exactly what. But everyone also knew that Yunho was no longer with him.
But that was where they were wrong. Because there was never a single day that went by that Yunho wasn't his. Even if they weren't publically together they knew how it really was.
Their relationship had history. They met young and fell hard. But as they trained Yunho's attention seemed to stray. The big roadblock was Heechul. It was a tug-of-war that lasted for years but everything seemed to be dying down. DBSK was busy with activities and Super Junior also had their debut, making Heechul busy as well. Jaejoong had gotten secure in his position by Yunho's side. Everything was safe. Although he and Yunho's relationship was secret he didn't think it to be weak.
So when everything fell, when Jaejoong found out the truth, it hurt. It hurt so much that it seeemed irrepairable. Jaejoong didn't think he had room to forgive it. Yunho was cheating on him with Heechul the entire time. The one he gave his heart to had never chosen him at all.
Therefore it seemed natural for Jaejoong to refuse, even when Yunho begged and tried to make it right. He wanted Yunho to prove that he could trust him again. He loved Yunho, he wanted him by his side forever, but he didn't want a cheater. He thought Yunho would understand that, and work with him. He thought they could rebuild trust together, especially with Heechul completely out of the picture for good. But he was wrong again. Because instead of rebuilding their damaged relationship Yunho moved on all together with a mutual bandmate and friend, announcing it publically (to their members and managers) as well.
Not even two weeks into Yunho's new relationship did the two start sleeping with each other again. And that only made Jaejoong more bitter. Not only did it prove his fear about Yunho to be right, but he had become party to the same crime that ripped his heart apart. But what was he to do?
Even if he tried to rationalize it saying Yoochun was the one who came between them, that it was Yoochun who brought them to this, Jaejoong knew he was wrong. He was absolutely wrong. So why couldn't he stop? Why?
"Hyung?" Changmin's voice cut through Jaejoong's thoughts. "I'm hungry. What are you making?"
Jaejoong looked down at the pile of cabbage Changmin was eyeing on the cutting board, then smiled at his youngest member.
"Anything you want."
Changmin's eyes lit up like he was in a candy shop and Jaejoong chuckled. He knew he'd be cooking for most of the night now, but he welcomed the distraction.
