Cause no one wants their daughter to get knocked up?

I dunno what to tell you. I see the comercial fake aspect in media and surrounding. Buy Buy Buy. but my family really isnt like that. WE all get together to make each other happy and share good food. we give what gifts we can and so forth. Personaly, i dont liek the consumer aspect of the holiday, so most of my gifts are handmade, or if bought, selected with great consideration and care.
oh well.
i hope it goes the smoothest for you it can

This is why I left downstate, mostly for good. Because it's not just at this time of year that my family pulls this shit.

As for having kids: THere's still that old patriarchal idea that men have kids to carry on the family name (ideally sons), while daughters 'belong' to their husbands' families. Everyone will deny this, but old habits die hard.

Yes, thanksgiving and Christmas are turning more and more commercial, and yes, that sucks.

As for families, mine just blows the whole way 'round, and if you do anything outside the norm (like say hit age 20 w/o kids), you're branded as a freak, and exiled by a large majrity of them. Which, scarily makes life easier...

As for the kids thing, yeah I agree with the others... Guys carry the "Family Name," and all that jazz...
