With all due respect, I think one step at a time is best. I'd like to at least enjoy being a Vice before heading down that road.

Enjoy being a vice captain? I can recall that it was only ever useful when pulling rank on others... There is very little to enjoy in being made the dogsbody for all the jobs your captain considers below him, and your captain will keep you busier than you have ever been before.

You know~ none of the captains I know treat their vice captains as nothing more than a dog to run errands and do tricks. I am willing to put money that my schedule will remain as full as it did as fifth seat -- and taking over third duties -- in the Eleventh. I would almost say my workload will likely decrease.
