If you pay off your credit card every month, that means the credit card company can't make any money off of you. And they don't like that.

personally I think they make enough money off the ~2% transaction fees that vendors pay. If they can't make a profit off $50-$150 per year in transaction fee income from me, they may need to reconsider their business!

yeah, definitely. though i personally hate how much weight is given to your credit report in the states; there's no real way to opt out of the system.

I'm with poltr1. They don't think you won't pay--they think they won't get to charge you extra, and the extras are where they make their money.

I had something similar happen to me a decade or more back. I also don't think I'm the type credit card companies are apt to love. With that said, this seems like a good thing, actually. To me, it sounds like the financial reform is making some difference and the credit card companies are being more picky. That's probably good for society.
