I've been listening to a whole lot of hip hop lately, most of it from the late 80's to late 90's. But when I say hip hop past, I don't mean chronologically. I mean autobiographically.
Jump, by Kris Kross. They're 13 years old, produced by a 19 year old, and they're surprisingly passable rappers. Awesome.

For the longest time I believed that mainstream, pop hip-hop and alternative hip-hop were two totally separate worlds. I was totally wrong. Take a guy like DJ Premier, for example who would produce, Biggie, Nas, whoever, but his own biggest project, Gang Starr, was totally innovative and alternative.
