I've been reading your reviews and have enjoyed them and now I finally want to reply. :) Although Sylar is my favorite character, the scenes with his father were weird and disappointing. The only way I can describe why is that we see a little bit of our old Sylar when he commits himself to killing his mother's killer, making us expect a grand scene between father and son and their conflicts. What we do get is little chats and no blantant intentions on vengeance. I do notice that there are a lot of build ups for Heroes, like the HRG-centric episode, or Matt being the bomb and exploding in Washington DC, but end up being very minor things, again with the scene between Sylar and his father. Then Sylar decides to not kill him using his father's logic of "easy prey", showing that the writers are really afraid to truly kill anyone because they could put them in later with a shocking entrance in a couple seasons later. I don't really care, honestly, they can do what they want and I will still love Sylar
( ... )
I think there were some parallels to be drawn between Sylar and Doyle this episode. They're both nearly unstoppable when they use their powers, but they've recently made the decision not to use them wantonly. In both cases, it's somewhat doubtful that they'll stay on the wagon. The writers might be trying to say something about choices and free will, but I'm not entirely sure what it is yet. Hopefully, Sylar's whole experience with his father and their conflicts of philosophy will be continued in his character development.
Also, I doubt we've seen the last of Sylar's dad. You can't have that much build-up for a one-off character. He probably has more to do this season.
Maybe he figured that the way he was acting before just led to being captured by The Company and then nearly killed. Brushes with death can cause someone to re-evaluate. ...Or he just had a change of heart because the writers thought, "Hey! Wouldn't it be cool if..."
I actually liked this episode. Maybe because they weren't up to their old tricks of Peter falling for yet another trap. But yeah I definitely did a "huh? wha?" when Sylars father gave him the rabbit. I don't know if I missed something but I had assumed he was killing the rabbit to eat it. This is such a sick idea but once we found out Sylar was faking, I was hoping/predicting he was going to stuff his father like human taxidermy. How cool would that have been!
Ew. Gross. Especially considering their suspicious taxidermy methods... Would have been an excellent present to leave on Danko's desk, though. Stuffed dad.
The hubby and I were laughing our asses off during the conversation between Danko and Angela. We figured that she wasn't lying... she was just dancing around the fact that Nathan has an ability, which is what Danko wanted to know. Hubby's comment was that judging by the expression on Angela's face, she was thinking "Noah! You sent me a toy! How thoughtful of you!" XD
And oh, I want to see the smackdown that Sylar puts on Danko. Danko annoys me so badly--he's too one dimensional, and he looks like the love child of Telly Sevalas and Gollum.
LOL! That is a great description of Danko. Is Peter his preciousssss?
Angela is so badass. And the team of Angela and Noah is, like, badass squared. (Also, it's "one of us, one of them" company-style!) Together, they could probably rule the world.
I'm hoping that Sylar's father actually ends up living so that we can see a father vs. son epic battle in the future. I think that'd be awesome BUT we already have had a little father vs. son thing with the Petrelli's.
I'm pretty confident that Sylar's dad will be back. They probably wouldn't have bothered getting a relatively well-known actor for just a one-shot role. Besides, we know how Heroes loves the family drama.
So I've basically been stalking your Heroes reviews for quite a while, and I even showed them to my friend, and the two of us sit here and read your reviews after watching Heroes and laugh our asses off. And agree with everything you say.
SO HERE'S A LONG COMMENT. I hope you don't mind, I'm kind of a loser :P
Do you really think the baby's gonna be Matt's real kid? That didn't cross my mind during the episode, but now that you mention it, maybe it is Matt's. But I don't know, then Janice is just fucking crazy and that's another plot line in it's own, so who knows.
And I agree with the Heartwarming Moment of the Night thing. Nathan and Claire was absolutely ADORABLE. And even though Claire pisses me off more then any character on that show, that image was just so cute.
Can you imagine the news stories we'd have if a real senator walked up to a guy with a vest full of explosives at an ice rink in Washington D.C. and defused his bomb on live tv? Ha. Hahaha. That's so true. That's what I've always loved about TV and superheroes and

Don't worry about being creepy. I don't actually know anyone who posts, so you're in good company. I just like to discuss the show.
I *hope* the baby is Matt's. Otherwise, he really shouldn't be named Matt Parkman, and there would be no good reason to give him super powers. Janice doesn't seem to have any, and it's pretty doubtful that the other guy did. It's like the show has to retcon its retcons now. If I remember correctly, in season one, Janice said the baby was Matt's. Then, in season 2, Matt was mysteriously living in New York without wife and kid, and they told us that it wasn't his baby after all. Now it is again. Who knows.
Thank you for the lovely compliments. I'm glad you like my reviews.

He might very well be. Although I think he's about to become Sylar's "precious". >)
I wanna see Angela and Noah openly team up and challenge everyone for power. That would be way too cool. :P
And hey, was Angela shoplifting socks again?
