Can anyone explain to me the commonality between controlling earth and controlling ink? Is tattoo ink mineral based? If he's moving the ink by moving tiny little mineral particles, shouldn't they tear the shit out of skin?
A similar question: Why can that deaf girl see music, water droplets, and breaking ceramic but not voices, clapping hands, or cars? Shouldn't that park have been an insane, writhing mass of rainbows? And there is no way that she should be able to play a musical instrument.
I'm still reserving judgment on the carnies, but they are starting to annoy me in minor ways. First of all, Lydia is way too passive; apparently she just waits around all day in case Samuel wants to ink her up. (What does she do in winter? Is she allowed to wear a sweater? It might impede viewing.) Darth Maul likewise does nothing but await orders. Yay. I get it...Samuel is the charismatic leader of a creepy little cult. I have yet to catch the faintest glimpse of what motivates him. I'm not even sure I care...Motivations change so quickly on this show that it isn't even worth my time to learn them.
What drives me crazy is that every "normal" person he meets just trusts him implicitly. He oozes menace the way that Sylar oozes charm! (Charm? Was that the line? Whatever he said, I loved it.) Do they learn nothing??? Nevermind. Forget I asked.
Sam wants to recruit Peter...so he sues him. Then brands him with a tattoo. Lovely. And Pete has to be all touchy-feely...and stupid, of course. You do NOT hunt down guys who are suing you. You let the lawyers handle it. "Have you lost a brother?" "No, but I have misplaced him on occasion." Of course, Peter has lost a brother, he just isn't aware of that yet. ::sniffle:: And where was Nathan today, anyway? He's the only plot line I like right now.
One of the bright spots about this new Matt/Sylar plotline is that I can watch Matt's scenes without wanting to stab myself through the temple. It's like Sylar is watching the show with me and we're mocking Matt together. Or even better, it's like I'm in the show...in Matt's head, and he can FINALLY hear me tell him what a fucking idiot he is! Now THAT'S entertainment!
The big dope still hasn't figured out that it looks crazy when you talk to someone who isn't there. He tells Sylar he's going to ignore him, but still reacts visibly and audibly to everything he says. "Ignore" - I do not think it means what you think it means.
Awesome that Sylar has figured out how to hijack Matt's power. Sucks that Matt hasn't realized that he holds the trump card in this battle of wills...if Matt threatens suicide, Sylar has to back down. Sylar can't exist without him...and certainly can't regain his body. So, if Sylar pushes Matt too far - like, past the point of sanity (in Matt's case, not all that far) - they'd both die.
Mostly, I think this whole Sylar in Matt thing is just a mechanism to keep Sylar in the show if Quinto decides to leave. They'll have the characters compromise - Sylar will get *a* body but not *his* body.
