After five long and agonizing seasons it had finally come to an end. They'd talked about it before, their future in the entertainment industry. Jensen planned to do some more plays and Jared was already a hot topic in a new up and coming show. They were excited and scared. Supernatural had taken Jared and Jensen on a journey unlike any other and despite knowing that it was time for an ending in the show there was still a lingering question mark. Something else was ending with that show, something that couldn't be put into words or pictures and for Jensen that was scarier than any horror movie he'd seen.
They had become a solid and important part in each others life. Jensen would one day be Jared's best man and like wise, it was a promise made between two men and two pinkies. During the last couple seasons of filming they'd lived together and they'd somehow gotten impossibly closer. Crew on set would make jokes about their hips being stuck together with old bubble gum and laugh when they'd complete one others sentences.
"He thinks he's my soul mate." Jared had said.
"You wish," was Jensen's reply and that's how it all started.
The innocent touches and poses on the carpet had all been in fun and games. Sure, they cared about each other and they had always been open about that, but never did they realize just how much that care extended. It started with a kiss and fingers tangled around each other like a never ending vine of roses. There had been days of awkward interactions and the tension was thick. On set they'd been yelled at, frustration settling deep in their eyes as they tried take after take and just couldn't get it right.
"Fuck it, Jensen. Fuck them all." Jared's voice was sincere and comforting and that's all it took to convince Jensen to give this a shot, to give them a shot, and not a day since had he looked back to regret that choice.
They already knew each others souls inside out. Jared knew just how Jensen liked his coffee and Jensen knew just how Jared didn't like his coffee. They had the little things down to a science and with time and patience they slowly learned more than that.
It was a private adventure for the two of them, a road no one else could take. Through questioning touches and kisses they were swept up in a love they'd always tried to deny. Suddenly it wasn't just the little things anymore. Jared knew that Jensen liked to be kissed just below his ear and loved it when Jared's large sweaty palms cupped his ass and pulled him forward. Jensen learned that Jared liked him to push in like that and he knew so well how to make him beg and beg until the world went white and it was just Jensen's name spilling from Jared's bruised lips.
As the last episodes were filmed they had more fun then they'd had in the last four seasons combined. They'd joke with an undertone that no one quite got and their chemistry nearly broke the camera lenses. They'd slip up occasionally, hold each other a bit too long and touch a bit too much but no one said anything, that was just them.
Finally, after years of hard work their job was done and all the questions they'd had were gone. They weren't sure of the roads they would take or what bumps they'd find but they were ready to take them together. It was just barely a week after the final airing when they went out together, hands interlocked. On the way out to the car they stopped and kissed and the flash of the cameras never quite faded from their eyes.
Papers hit stands the next day and one small article read "Jared and Jensen - Free Finally"
