I think I'm kind of confused about Endless Eight. I was under the impression what they're doing right now is re-running Season 1 and inserting the "Season 2" eps where they sort of belong in continuity? And I've seen 2 of those eps... I have heard some of the complaints of taking a 30 page story from the novels and turning into 6 episodes... but I haven't caught up beyond the first 2 "new" eps. The first one where Kyon goes back in time was neat, but the next one I watched was... terribly pedestrian. Which is saying a lot for Haruhi. I am curious about what the hubbub is about, but I haven't caught up as every time I've checked the Kadokawa Youtube channel, there hasn't been anything up. Maybe I just need to do some more creative searching

Ok, I decided to check the wiki... really? They felt the need to stretch a time loop storyline over 6 eps? I sort of get the idea, but that's taking it waaaaaaay too far. I mean, didn't ST: TNG do the same thing a couple different times with no more than 2 (granted 45 min) episodes? I felt the jumbled chronology of the first season was innovative, but this reeks of laziness :/
Oh totally. I mean if they want to intermix the new season with the old I would be cool with that. But make a new season. Six episodes is essentially half of the new run. The only possible explanation that I can think of that makes sense is that they got completely shafted on the contract and as revenge they made a season guaranteed to poison the property and lose the network a lot of money. Even that isn't exactly speaking highly of their motives though.
I actually saw this vid about a week or so ago, "Former Kyo-Ani Director Yamamoto puts the Haruhi Season 2 Endless Eight Arc in his own words" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqy8x-zKuKw
