Mitigating factors

 Yet another story in the Times today repeating the same old "Olbermann is difficult, Olbermann had this coming, Olbermann never had a job anywhere for a few years" canards.

And nowhere in this or any other story have I seen recognition that Olbermann also lost both his parents within the last what, year? Year and a half? And not just gently into ( Read more... )

Yep, been getting my Namond on on his behalf chicating January 24 2011, 15:22:11 UTC
for that a number of places...Namond being one of the junior-high kids on the fourth season of "The Wire" whom I reference frequently because he told the police commissioner "With all due respect, sir, fuck you."
I quote Namond in my head frequently...maybe that's why I love the "difficult" Olbermann.
Broadcasting is a peripatetic business in general, unless you're Walter Cronkite(and they don't really make those anymore, though I had the pleasure of meeting him once at my college and his reputation for just, general awesomeness and iconicness is well deserved.)
And, yes, losing parents to whom you're that devoted so close to each other must be some kind of cosmic sucker punch.(And he got grief for talking about it on-air and grief for being so long off the airwaves.)
