Huge Update! Alert the Media!

*dusts cobwebs off neglected livejournal*

Ok, this is going to be VERY TL;DR, so I'm going to cut it.

I blame my sporadic updating on a variety of things:

1. I'm lazy.

2. After dealing with two computer monitors at work, the last thing I want to do is update my livejournal when I get some free time.

3. I'm lazy.

So there.

But I think this weekend was awesome enough that it deserves an update, but first of all, I'll catch my loyal reader(s) (HI ADAM!) up on my life thus far.

I now have a job. After a few weeks of generalized teeth gnashing and hair pulling, I landed a sweet gig with a crown corporation smack in the middle of downtown Vancouver. My commute takes me through some...colorful neighbourhoods that feature people like "Guy Who Talks To His Shopping Cart" and "Lady Who Leers At The Bus". If I'm REALLY lucky, I'll catch a glimpse of the elusive "Guy Who Runs Into Traffic With His Football". I loves me some downtown east side.

My building has the unfortunate luck of being attached to fancy pants shopping mall, which lures me and my wallet down there every chance it gets. Thus far, I have avoided the siren call of the most glorious pen shop in the entire world. But I'm not sure how long I can resist buying a fantastically expensive piece of writing equipment.

I'm on the 11th floor, and I get views of BC Place Stadium, the library (which look, vaguely, like a Roman Colliseum, and False Creek). When I'm not busy looking out the window, I instead focus my attention on the hapless public who like to ask questions to which I have none of the answers. That doesn't stop me from acting all knowledgable, of course. I also fiddle around with about 5 websites and fix HTML when other people break it. I'm being purposefully vague about where I actually work, because it's TOP SEKRET. I even have a special fancy elevator pass because my floor has some kind of Level 3 Security (I think Level 4 is actually guarded by a dragon).

I'm fluctuate from being intimidated as hell and strangely confident over what I do here; mostly because I'm so far out of my element, that I sometimes just want to curl up under my desk. But I'm learning valuable skills and blah blah blah something about "growing as a person". Bottom line: it pays me the good monies so I don't have to live with Shopping Cart Guy downtown.

So, life is good right now. I love our apartment, Adam is happy in his job, I'm generally content with mine, and we're starting to get ahead of things after having a few VERY tenuous months where money was tight and stress was high.

And we're going camping next week and then to Moyie lake, where Adam's family has a cabin. So I'm looking forward to campfires and fishing and hiking and NOT thinking about HTML for a week.

And now this update is getting hugely long, so I'll talk about Ucluelet when I next have a break. See, this is what happens when I ignore my livejournal for inordinate amounts of time. It means that the next time I update, it's like 439824983 pages long and no one wants to read that much; not even me.

Also, I'm becoming strangely addicted to crosswords. I still kind of suck at them (unlike my mom and Adam, who are awesome), but I find they're a good way to kind of zen out.

OK NEXT UP: UCLUELET!1 Stay tuned...
