I can recommend the following vendors wholeheartedly - all of them did an awesome job for us, in every way - and they weren't awesomely expensive either
( ... )
We had our wedding waterside, in a small grassy park just into esquimalt (the name escapes me now, but it was beautiful). Our reception was at Swans, in their 40-person special events room (exposed brick walls, beautiful art - all we had to do was bring flowers and candles).
We also did a rehearsal picnic at Fort Rodd Hill and a goodbye brunch at my home. Fort Rodd provided us with a tent and tables, and we were able to pre-pay everyone's admission. It worked really well.

Where was your venue, if you don't mind me asking?

Oh, and my shower was at Wild Heather tea Room on Oak Bay Ave - amazing food, half the price of the Empress.
