everybody's doing it!

Jan 11, 2011 14:27

Agggh, so everyone's done this and I loved catching up with everyone. So I feel I should do this as well considering how MIA that I've been the last year especially from LJ posting.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Went on a 12 hour "roadtrip" with just my mom. It was to a wedding and it was a drive we've made before plenty of times with the whole family when I was younger. But to spend that much time with just my mom was neat.

2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions and will you make more for next year? I did pretty good, I got into regularly swimming at the new health center in town. But then after I moved, I wasn't so into the new pool and have gotten out of it. So I kinda kept my the end of the deal. I plan to get back into swimming in the next couple weeks. I hate showing up at a fitness center when everyone else is in their new years resolution mode. This year's resolution is to worry (dread things) less and just do.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My grandmother. It was very tough since she lived close and I had been regularly visiting her because I knew my time living nearby was limited.
And to a much lesser extent, my cat Kitty disappeared the day I planned to move him to our new home.

5. What countries did you visit?
The US is a big place, you can drive pretty far without leaving it.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Stability and peace and quiet.

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
So many changes happened this year, it's hard to pick one memory. The serenity from swinmming.  The fear rushing to the hospital to find out my grandmother had a stroke and they didn't expect her to wake up and they would be withholding care like she had requested. The joy of seeing relatives that I mostly knew in my childhood at a cousins wedding, and seeing so many babies now as teenagers and college kids. The sadness as we all mourned and remembered my grandparents the next day at the graveyard where my grandparents familiy had been buried and they had planned to be until they moved to be closer to my mom. The unbearable heat as my husband and I tried to pack the uhaul truck, the good surprise of seeing our new apartment which we rented sight unseen, and elation of making it safely to our destination unlike last time.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I moved away!!! Although that's less of mine. How about my dedication to getting up at 5:30 AM to go swimming 3 times a week before work and 7:00 AM on Saturday.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Letting the new pool discourage me from swimming. Not taking Kitty the day I originally planned to move him.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Countless cuts and scratches! I should be more careful with cats and surroundings!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Probably the artichoke. Or the pomegranate. I'm in a slightly bigger area so the grocery store has some interesting produce. And since I have a kitchen with a little bit of space, I've been having fun cooking new things.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
As always, my mom.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Someone who I had repeated discussions with about community fanart concerns then randomly claiming Zugma was harassing her by sending her one pm in 2009 and then another pm in fall 2010. *blink blink*

14. Where did most of your money go?
Food! Bills!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Moving!

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
No song really stands out as being connected to this year for me. Lots of good music though.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: Happier or sadder? Thinner or fatter? Richer or poorer?
Definitely happier and more positive about the future.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Swim!

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Eat!

20. How did you spend Christmas?
With my family! And it snowed 5 inches at home for the first time since I was in highschool!

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Still in love!

23. How many one-night stands?
None

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Supernatural, duh!  My favorite comedy "Better off Ted" sadly got canceled.   I've been loving the new comedy Glory Daze on TBS. Oh, and Conan and Andy! ♥

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't really HATE people. There are plenty of horrible people and people that let me down, but I try not to let them drag me down into their pitiful existences by having such a passionate emotion towards them.

26. What was the best book you read?
Too hard to pick. I'll take the easy route and say Hunger Games was a gripping read.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Let's see, I finally tried out All That Remains. I really liked their last cd and the one that just came out this fall. They have interesting lyrics that inspire me for SN art.

28. What did you want and get?
A widescreen monitor. Oh, and a little thing called the internet at home.

29. What did you want and not get?
A wacom intuous and painter 11.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hot Tub Time Machine! I'm an 80s junkie. Though to be honest I didn't find time to see a lot of movies this year.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went out for dinner with my husband. Fanarted!

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Can't play this game. Too much loss. Too much happiness.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
LMAO, no style! Work casual clothing, swimsuits, and exercise clothing!

34. What kept you sane?
My family.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Justin Hartley. I adore his acting and am so glad Smallville finally gave Chollie a chance!

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Staying away from this one.

37. Who did you miss?
My youngest sister. JJ, Amber, and Joe! I never saw you guys!

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I got to know some great internet people better this year like Signe, Zugma, Erin_Nicole, Buffylover, Theresa Marie, and Kiera. I'm very glad I've had more time to spend around Buffyforums.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
When in the dark, it seems like there was never any light. When in the light, the darkness barely seems to have existed. I guess I'm very much affected by the moment and need to remember that things can and usually do change when you put the effort in.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

Things are gonna be alright

life; meme
