The stupidity of ebook pricing

So, the new Terry Pratchett book is out today and I thought I'd look at what my options are for buying it

I get the impression that there's people who don't want it to succeed.
Overprice it -> less sales, more piracy -> declare it a failure -> go back to 'the old way'.

Or because they think they can get away with it. Ebooks tend to be used by people at the front of the tech wave - ie, more affluent people, who the publishers think they can screw a few extra dollars out of. Just like when CD's were more expensive than videos.
