Let's talk about names.

Yes, I know. It's super early yet and I have months ahead left to make a decision. But this is the biggest part about a pregnancy, isn't it? This is what my husband and I have been talking about the most. And it's really the only one thing I can share with the lot of you ( Read more... )

If you even name your child Jayne, I will be so hateful towards you for years to come! That's the name we picked out if we have a daughter! Grr! (Except, spelled differently). You see, Jane, is a combination of me and James' names. It fits.

Personally though, I like Ridley... A lot! If you name your kid Jayne, I'm naming our daughter Ridley! LOL

Jayne's going to be the middle name! Not the first. If we use it. I'm stuck on it, but not as a first name. Jayne Miner just doesn't ring well. And if we use it, it's going to be spelled with the Y because of Jayne Cobb.

Riley & Ridley I like; honestly both are okay but I lean a but more to Ridley.

And god--but when I see the name Regina, all I can think about is school children in elementary school and a chorus of giggling, "REGINA VAGINA!"

From your options, I vote Rosalyn, then Riley.

I dunno.

My friend's niece is a Riley, and she is the most adorable, sweetest little thing, so I have no negative attachments to that name. Riley could work.

Ridley makes me think of the Metroid Space Pirate though. Which is kind of awesome. But it also strikes me as more masculine than feminine, as opposed to strictly unisex.

Rosalyn is neat in that it allows for nicknames.

Regina is no.

I'm not helpful. D: But then again I'm horrible for giving name advice. I don't like 'normal' names, usually. And you seem rather down to earth in the choosing of names, rather than something fanciful and fantasy oriented. XD

"Ridley makes me think of the Metroid Space Pirate though. Which is kind of awesome."

You are the second person to tell me this, which only enhances my love of the name even more.

"But it also strikes me as more masculine than feminine, as opposed to strictly unisex."

As for this... It is only listed as a boy name, but that isn't about to stop me. In recent years, many more "masculine" names have taken the plunge into the unisex market. You aren't likely to see a female Robert or Adam any time soon, but you'll sure see names like Bailey and Drew and Morgan associated with more females than used to be the case in ye olden days.
