Travelogue, Perth D1

Ha, so I was thinking that I should be diligent in keeping my diary.

I’m waiting to board my flight to Perth at 12.05AM right now. So today was a bit hectic with me running about the office finishing of my documents before taking my leave. With all that done, I drove myself to the nearest money changer to exchange my Malaysian notes. I managed to secure a good rate after having to confuse myself with how to work on the exchange rate. I was confuse and I don’t even know why I got myself totally confuse with the issue. It’s not that I haven’t done this before, and after all the confusion had been clear, I found myself pondering on why on earth did I suffered from a deficit (is that even the right word) from my currency exchange. Well, again I was totally confuse. After all of that mini drama, I caught a commuter to KL Sentral, wanting to catch a bus to KLIA2. Again, I was confuse with the issue of getting myself on time (because it feels as if there might be quite a hassle to reach at the check in counter late). I don’t really like to rush and I swear I value times more when I’m travelling. So I was confuse between taking a bus or the erl. But the choice was of course weight more towards the cheaper mode of transportation. After all the gamble, I chose to ride the 820PM bus and manage to arrive KLIA2 at 910PM. The check in counter was actually a combination of flight to Japan, New Zealand and Australia and it was quite a long queue. Luckily there were a lot of check in counter open at that time. I waited for a good 15 minutes before my turn, and the officer was quite the gentleman. He kept on asking me if I would be okay to travel alone. I answered him with ‘In sha Allah and Tawakal’. I am quite nervous thinking of how I’ll be travelling alone for this two days, since it’s the first time I’m travelling to Perth. I don’t even know what to expect and I hope for only the best. May Allah S.W.T ease this journey, In sha Allah. I do hope I’ll keep being diligent on updating this travelogue (lol).

I’m here in the city of Perth as I’m writing this. I couldn’t get a wink of sleep on board last night. I’m sleep deprived and the weather wasn’t helping at all. I just want to sleep, right here right now. Can I? Alright the flight this morning was quite bumpy, but not to the point where I need to freak out. It was somehow a smooth ride? Did I rephrase that right? I’m literally freezing while typing this. It’s too cold here in Perth. The flight took about 5 hours from KL to Perth, and after arriving, I bought myself an optus simcard for 20AUD. It can last for 10 days with 12GB worth of internet. I don’t know if it’s enough, but I hope it will. I’m so hungry right now, and cold. I’m soaked from head to toes! So the immigration went perfectly well, without any further investigation from the officer. I was beyond glad, but my shoes is kinda wet rn (cries). Alright, I need to stay cool. After all the procedure in the airport I took the 380 bus from the airport. It should have cost me AUD5 but since I don’t have smaller change, so the driver didn’t take my money. He’s just too kind. I walked for about 10 minutes in the rain to get to my hostel. The hostel location wise was quite good too. It was just in front of watertown outlet. I might go there later. I did see the Perth CBD on my way here too!
The picture below was taken in Jacob's coffee shop. He's friend with Kristy (akara reception lady). I waited for an hour an a half for Kristy to come while sitting inside of the cafe. I don't really converse with Jacob since I'm just this awkward to begin with. There were lots of customer coming to Jacob's cafe and most of them were Aussie and the slang was so confusing. I don't get what they were saying most of the times tho! Kristy came at 8 AM, and I check in to the hostel (was quite lucky that she let me inside the room as early as 8!). There was a Chinese girl in the room (it was supposed to be a 9 female bedroom hostel, but they were only 3 occupance in the room). I tried to be friendly with the girl, but she's totally rejecting my hospitality. So, I just take a short nap, and planning to presume what was in my itinerary later. I got up around 10 AM and oh boy the room was too cold for me to continue with sleeping.

I was walking with the aim to go to King's Park, but as I pass by Murray street, I saw Lush. Since I'm quite curious with the product so I went there following my instinct. The sales person was quite chatty and know what to do with her job. She recommended me quite a lot of product and I ended up buying the shampoo, mily bar soap and plus I got some of the samples (hair conditioner and Idk what elese is there). Then, I went to Myer to check out my friend's Dior. I got to taste the Benefit product range. It was quite good! The mosturizer and the foundation was the best! But since it's too expensive for my pocket, I ended up not buying it at all. I made a detour to Chemist warehouse in the Murray street just to satisfy my own curiousity. So I ended up buying some berocca, sponge and I can't remember the rest lol. I saw Karache just across the street and I remember reading in a blog that they serve quite a delicious food with cheaper price. I went inside to have my very first meal. The owner was such a lovely person. I don't know her name sadly, but she was so friendly to the extend that she was accomponying me eating at my table. We talked for a short while and it just cured my loneliness in that instant. I was so happy by the time and I went back to Akara for some rest because of how tired I was with the coughing fit. I slept for a bit and woke up at 3. I went to King's Park and took some lovely pictures of the park. It was so calming and the weather was so nice after that morning and evening shower.I went to Kaarta Gar up, and stroll along the Jacob's ladder. Apparantely I didn't follow my initial itinerary because I was quite tired due to the long walk. Then after sometimes, I walked back to the bus stop, to Akara. I pass through John Oldham Park on the way to the bus stop. I grab myself a kebab burger on the way back for my dinner. I also went to Woolworths because I was damn curious on the product they were selling. I bought barista bros and strawberry. It was cheap I tell you!Once I was inside Akara, I went to the lounge and saw two person (one of them was a Malay guy, and another was Indian) were playing chess. We had a small talk like where we're coming from, and so on. I was seating on another set of sofa while they were seating across of me. Then, he asked me to sit with him, and so I did while eating my kebab. He told me that the both of them came back from Melbourne to experience the show in the Mountain there. We were talking while concentrating on the game of chess. I don't really remember how to play the board game, and so I was there just for the sake of it. Then all of suddent someone approach us. He introduced himself as Erik. He was a student of Curtin uni majoring in geology. I was ingoring him for most of the times and he asked the Malaysian guys if they can play a game of chess. I sat there watching from the corner of my eyes. After the game ended, somehow I don't even know how it happened, but I started to converse with Erik. I can't even remember what we're talking about but I guess it got something to do with the things that we're excel at, like him in Geologist and mine in design. I told him that how I didn't even get to tour around the city that much and suprisingly he offered to take me to a tour in the middle of the night and just like that!. So we went to see the St. George Cathedral and the Coucil house garden. We walked around St George Terrace and Cathedral Avenue. We even went inside the COMO building. It was actually the building that I saw on the day and it was a actually a combination of restaurant, bar and perhaps offices. We also took a night stroll at London court and it feels like walking in Diagon Alley. There were not  asingle soul around and it was quite a chilly walk. We continue our walk until the William street towrads the Perth underground station. Since I planned to go to Rottnest island the next day, so he kindly show me how to purchase the train ticket. I should have seen it clearly, but I guess my attention was somewehere elese since I was quite exhausted from the walk that I had. We walked for quite sometimes and it started to rain all of suddence. I told him that I wanted to visit the State library because of Ash (lol). I though that we'll be going back to Akara since it was raining, but ofc we didn't. He told me to wait for the rain to stop, and he showed me the City place community centre, the Art Gallery, the cultural centre, and of course the State library which is actually closed at that particular time. We walked until the Perth busport, the rooftop movies. We took a short break and enjoyed ourself a Ben & Jerry ice cream (since Erik loves to eat ice cream) within the chilly night. We came acroos San Churro and the North bridge piazza. We also came across the State theatre Center just on the way back to Akara.
