... this is a placeholder! Life is dealing me one big roundhouse kick to the windpipe after another, and I do not wish to leave you in a lurch, but it might take me a few days. Argh, I am so sorry.
ETA: HOLY CRAP, WHAT DAY IS IT?!
Firstly, there's a lot of groveling, as again, time has slipped away from me, and I haven't meant to let you do the same. I'm sorry for whatever stress it's caused you. I'm very glad you are writing for me, because, well, somewhere along the line we have intersecting tastes, which must totally make you an awesome person.
Uh, where was I? Ahem. Yes. The prompts!
- Vocaloids [Kaito/Len/Miku/Rin] -- Software development, interaction with the AIs, and creative de-bugging. As lighthearted or serious as you please. Other Vocaloid cameos are also welcome, and injokes/references to the building Nicovid mythos always make me smile. (If any romance, my preferred pairings are slash or femslash, but not absolutely required.)
Okay, so when I said 'same-sex pairings preferred', my brain must have fallen out, or maybe I was thinking of another series. Almost anything goes. (So silly of me! [facepalm]) If giving you any of my favorite videos will help, some of them are 'Ko-ko-ro','Dark Woods Circus', Kaito ga Uninstall, the Daughter/Servant Of Evil/Message trilogy, and this particular tidbit --
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5211892 -- Electric Angel. I'm all for the progress of weird and fanciful science that doesn't seem to have an initial, practical purpose being explored. It doesn't even have to be hi-tech tech -- feel free to go completely wacky clockwork AU, if it so moves you! (Note: I will actually be trying to track down links to videos I mentioned for edification's sake, but it might take me a while. Youtube is readily available with many if you do not have a NicoVid account. See what inspires you, mine are merely guidelines!)
Fairytales - The Little Mermaid -- I would love some kind of closure for the Mermaid, picking up/expanding from where the induction into the Daughters of Air left off. Details for mermaid life and culture is a plus, because I am a dork that way. Any theme goes, with the possible exception of 'heartbreaking tragic ending'. (Though if you simply must do it, then do it gently.)
This is probably the most personal of all requests, so it could sound intimidating. It took me a lot of perspective to get the point (or at least one of the points as interpreted) of the Prince that the mermaid fell for completely overriding her sense of self. Granted, that's part of the other half of narrative thrust -- once she's sacrificed herself for the greater happiness and transcended her selfish wants... she's got to keep doing it for another 300 years. My inner eight-year-old called shenanigans on this, and it never really faded away. HCA had his issues with unrequited love, as we all do. I don't need some Dallas-esque bump on the head for the Prince to get a clue and drag her back, or a massive retcon, there was a necessary lesson in that ending. But dammit, something better than purgatory has got to be there.
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace [Any] -- One-Track Lover was just the tip of the iceberg. Tell me about the aborted Musical Episode[tm] that we didn't know was aborted!
Okay, you're officially allowed to strangle me for this one. Musical form in prose or script is a bitch -- I was tired and the deadline was close. Terrible haiku, lost pages, someone forgetting to hit 'record' in the sound booth -- you have an out, if you do so need it. Umm... things that I love? Dagless/Marenghi being his usual insufferable self(-insert) is a plus. Behind-the-scenes bits always kill me. Technical failures? Brilliant. Sanchez? Sanch, Sanch, Sanch! Assuming you're familiar with the series -- if not, the episodes are readily available on the Tube full of You, the last time I checked (six in all). Additionally, there's
a rather brilliant music video set to a mash-up of SexyBack and Hell's Bells that might provide the necessary oomph for mood establishment.
- Le Chevalier D'Eon [Durand/Robin] -- I really loved Robin and Durand's developing respect and friendship. A 'lost scene' of them bonding over something before matters went to hell in England, or a whole missing 'buddy episode' would be lovely. (Slash is enjoyed, but purely optional.)
There's something that always gets me about how quickly Robin would agree to let Durand cut off his temporarily-bewitched hand. No hesitation, and I'd like to think it's not simply because Durand's enough of a skilled swordsman to get the hand and nothing else. (Or, y'know, the obvious fact that he's being strangled to death. *ahem*) As stated before, I don't mind romantic content for these guys at all, but if that makes you uncomfortable, a buddy/buddy moment is just fine by me.
My overall squicks: injured animals, snuff/deathfic (for a non-canon death, that is), experimental jazz. (However, I would daresay almost all of these are waived for Darkplace, because, well, Darkplace.) Romance (het, slash, robot, gen) is fine, smut (het, slash, robot... uh, amoeba?) is also fine by me, we love who we love, and all that.
What may be most important, at this late a date -- if any of this swamps/derails/contradicts what story you may have already written/uploaded, don't worry about it. You've put effort into an awesome gift, and I am honored by it. That alone is enough.
You have, once again, my hugest of apologies for leaving you hanging without a line for so long. I hope you enjoy your writing experience, and it doesn't make you tear out your hair, or flail, or panic, or... well, you get the idea. Big hugs, and take care of yourself!
