Oh, yes, very peaceful (even though Ice House Pond itself is one tree-line away from Rt. 2A), and it's not like it takes any effort to paddle, once I got off the beach it was basically "flail around with the paddle a bit, ok, I'm heading the right way, just keep drifting to the far end of the pond and concentrate on the camera [and the geese]". (In a canoe you're usually fighting the wind, more than the water, anyway; the packraft has more of a kayak wind-profile, or even lower.)
MetaCarta itself is doing fine - growing rapidly (we passed the 50 person mark a while ago, part of the time I'm not coding is spent interviewing engineers :-) but not so large that I find it boring (and I'm still "important" without having to be a manager, which might not scale but keeps me happy :-)
Nice! That kind of boating seems like it would be almost meditative.
The startup I'm in is cresting thirty about now - we just ran out of desks. Definitely not boring yet, but I can see how it could get that way some day.

How's MetaCarta doing, in general? Solid financially? Still a fun place to work?
