Sex and Translating

You probably didn't know this because you never bothered to read my damn journal, but I'm STUDYING Japanese and looking to find a job that will allow me to spend part of the year in Japan. Lately I've been working on this huge block of text for Soulfang. It's a hentai scenario from a game called Vagrant Story, which I've never played, but has an assload of text. It's pretty good for an H Scene, but it's got an awful lot of emphasis on pelvic motion. (This is bad because it means I have to come up with more and more synonyms for "thrust".) The other problem is the Japanese words used to describe genitals. My favorite so far is 粘膜 (nenmaku), which in context means vaginal mucosa. I changed it to "vaginal walls" because mucosa are located on the vaginal walls, but just don't sound sexy. You'd be surprised how much knowledge of male and female anatomy helps out when translating this kind of stuff. Unfortunately, though, I had to take a cold shower after the second chunk of text. x.x What's really strange is why none of the guys on MO's board (read: everyone but me) are jumping at the chance to work on it. I mean, I know not ALL guys will just drop whatever they're doing for porn, but I thought at least one of them would be willing to proof it or help with sfx. Also, I'm finally going to start Pretty Face Ch.43 for Akatsuki. I just found out that AstCd2 will not be able to help out with PF at the moment, so now it's down to just Arumi and me. It's sad, because Ast is a great translator, but I'm kinda happy because it makes who's doing what much less confusing.
Ah, the troubles of university life. UT has informed me that to consider my financial aid application they need some random form, my 2003 tax return, and my parents' tax returns. Oh joy. So, I may not get my financial aid by the payment due date,(August 11, even though the funds aren't actually dispersed until August 25. Cute, huh?) so my parents have agreed to pay for my tuition if any problems arise. The real kicker about all of this is that the jackass I talked to at Student Financial Services told me the university emailed me in March requesting the documents, but I looked at my emails and couldn't find any such thing. I love the classes and professors at UT, but the administration sucks ass. On that note, I'm really looking foward to taking Japanese at UT this semester, because I fucking finally got into the speaking class! (For upper division, there are two sets of classes: speaking and reading.) I'm also taking another class dealing with Modern China taught by the weird and wonderful Professer Zanasi. And finally, I get to take a class on Japanese religion with Professor Trapagan. (I took Intro to Japan with him; he's really cool.) I haven't been so happy since I got to take World of Japanese Animation with Dr.Napier. ^_^
I've also been replaying Earthbound, one of my favorite SNES games, and God is it fun. There's so many references that I didn't get the first time (like the characters that look like Pigsty and Mr.T.) I've always had a sneaking suspicion that some stuff got changed in the English version, like in Illusion of Gaia where Black Panther (the assassin) was renamed Jackal. (I'll have more about that in my next entry.) I really don't like that kind of thing, but I'm more tolerant of it in videogames for various reasons.
I'll post more, but now I really wanna go take a nap. It's been a long day. ^_^
