The effects of media on a normal teenage girl in 2004

Nov 14, 2004 18:23

I have now learned, without a doubt, that I am a child of the nineties media.

I saw this

in a NY Times article.

It had no effect on me. None. I didn't gasp, didn't shudder, didn't go cold. It's like a scene from a movie. "Oh, that's violent, how unpleasant, I don't want to watch that one."

I don't even voluntarily watch gory violent movies.

It's just what I've absorbed. Through osmosis, I guess.

So now I can look at a picture of a real man's dead body without turning a hair. I hate the world. I hate mass media. I hate violence. I hate it all.
