I have to say that while it's true she picks on all the places she ate at in BR, she's not really a whole lot more generous with the places she eats at up there. Look at her rating graph -- it's obvious that she's REALLY ENJOYING THE GOOD LIFE:
You know, if I were the type to write restaurant reviews on Yelp, I'd certainly leave negative reviews if the place, like, REALLY sucked (especially if the price to quality ratio was severely off balance). But mostly, I'd leave positive reviews of the places I really like. If the place was just mediocre, I don't think I'd even bother to review it at all. I mean, why

Seriously, it doesn't really matter to me if she or anyone else doesn't like Rama or Baton Rouge or whatever. It's just the seething shitstain "Keeping Up With the Knickerbockers" attitude behind it.
Of course, there's plenty of idiots like this. But it's particularly offensive coming from her because a. She obviously considers herself far more aware, high-minded and liberal than your average "dumb southerner," and b. she's ostensibly a writer, which means she gets paid to communicate thoughtsYou know, I'm not perfect either. I like to think I'm usually pretty good at overcoming whatever personality flaws and inborn prejudices I struggle with, but sometimes I don't. I get frustrated like everyone else does (which is obvious to anyone who reads this journal), and when I'm frustrated like that I am far less likely to be forgiving and compassionate and all the stuff that centered people who lead happy lives are

Oh man, this Colleen K lady is so completely hateful it becomes funny and then it just becomes annoying and I get into an unending cycle of merriment and rage. Makes me feel more alive.
What the hell was she doing in Baton Rouge, anyway? Did she move to be with her boyfriend or husband or was she trying to find the real America?
I have this thing about reading Yelp reviews by snobs -- it's a terrible addiction. The worst snobs generally seem to come from the west coast (and the Bay Area, specifically), not the east coast or New York. Perhaps she should consider moving to San Francisco.
I think she moved to BR to be with her fiance while he went to grad school at LSU. And you know, what's weird is that when I moved there I wasn't exactly thrilled either. I definitely understand being homesick and it doesn't really offend me that someone doesn't like Baton Rouge that much. What offends me is the attitude behind it -- she made no attempt to make any friends (obviously), never went to the few places with good jukeboxes or whatever (afraid she wouldn't totally hate it, I guess), and was determined to cling to hating everything about it, probably because of some stupid status obsession ("If I don't completely hate it here, what will the cool kids back at home think
