Character

Name: Hinata Hyūga
Fandom: Naruto manga
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Time Period: Chapter 488
Wing Color: White
History: Wiki link get
Personality: Hinata is a kind, gentle and shy person. She is very soft-spoken and quiet, though she has learned to speak up for herself and to say what she really means and feels through the years. Though she is better characterized as a timid introverted person who dislikes conflict, and so does her best to avoid it. Conflict being battle, arguments, or any type of fighting.

And because of her quiet and understanding traits, she is quite empathetic, easily identifying with and noticing the pain others are feeling. Yet on the flip side of this, she is lacking in self-confidence (though not as badly as when she was twelve and younger) and still hides her real feelings on matters and people, to a degree. Because of this, she still often has trouble saying what she wants to as she pauses between words and interjects, "Um," at times.

Because of her nature, she is something of a doormat and will agree with someone if just to stop a fight or argument from breaking out. That is not to say she doesn't have a stubborn streak-because she does, though many would not guess it and simply call her a hardworker-or that she won't fight. She is something of a martial pacifist: while she will do her best to avoid a fight, if she has no other choice or one is threatening her "precious people" then she will fight and put her all into it.

Her lack of self-confidence stems from the heavy burden of being the heiress of her clan that she has carried since her birth. Her clan had a set idea of what the perfect heiress should be, and she did not fit their expectations, and so her title and birthright became a heavy weight that restricted her ability to grow and her faith in herself. However, by the age of sixteen, she has matured greatly and grown into her title. It is no longer a shakle keeping her down, but something to strive for and full of potential.

Her motivations are to be acknowledged and wanting to change herself through hard work. She wants to be acknowledged by her father, her clan, and by Naruto; though the ways she wants to be acknowledged by them differ: as a competent heiress, ninja and daughter, and as a person. She has been working on these goals through the entire series and each time she appears, she is shown to have succeeded to some degree. Especially since she received a promotion to chuunin, that shows she has grown enough to take charge of situations, make decisive actions, and be a leader to a degree. On the same note, she is shown to be a traditional person who follows the rules of the ninja world and her nindō, while also showing that she knows when and which to break in certain situations.

The strict laws and traditional nature of her clan is part of the reason why she admires Naruto so much, because she wants to "be like him" and because, to her, he embodies "potential" and "self-confidence". Like so many others in her age-group, and because of the inferiority complex she had toward her younger sister, she is always seeking strength and power and doing her best to better herself. However, because of Naruto's heavy influence, she seeks out power through hard work and determination.

Strengths:
Physical→ Hinata has been trained since she was very young in her family's style of martial arts called Jyūkenhō, or Gentle Fist Style. Basically, it is an internal martial art meaning that its purpose is not to cause external damage (ie. breaking bones/skin), but to cause internal damage (ie. targeting pressure points/internal organs). However in the case of Hinata, as she also is the bearer of her family's bloodline limit called the Byakugan, not only is she capable of damaging internal organs, but collapsing the chakra/energy network of another character. Or so it was explained during the Chūnin, mainly while Neji was fighting.

The byakugan allows its user to "see through everything" and easily understand the principles behind chakra circulation and use. It can see straight through immediate objects, anything situated remotely ahead/behind/sideways, and through a body to its "acupuncture network" through which chakra circulates, along with the apertures that are used to release chakra from the body: the "chakra openings". With this sight, she can collapse the chakra network of an opponent and render them incapable of using any chakra. The byakugan also grants its user near three-hundred-and-sixty degree vision-it has a small blind spot on the back of the user's neck just above the third thoracic veterbra. Hinata has been shown to have developed her byakugan to the point of being able to see around ten (10) km (around six (6) miles) in one direction. Her range of sight is mentioned when she was a part of the Eight Man Squad trying to find Itachi before Sasuke.

There is also, apparently, a Jyūkenhō attack Hinata has developed called Jūho Sōshiken or Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists. Using chakra she has released through the palms, Hinata molds it into a large lion-shaped shroud around each hand and through spherical attacks thrusts it toward an opponent. Its damage is never seen in the manga.

Mental→ Hinata is very much a person who thinks before she acts which makes any plan of action she takes a well-thought out one. This goes hand-in-hand with what the Databooks say about her intelligence: that she is one of the more intelligent ones of her age group. More than this, however, she is quite empathetic and perceptive. Because of her own past, she is easily able to notice and identify with the pain of others, like she does with Naruto. She saw how unwanted he was and the pain it caused him when they were younger, but she also saw how he was able to overcome it. And she was also able to see through to the pain and suffering her cousin, Neji, experienced when they were younger and called him on it.

Emotional→ This is probably Hinata's strongest area. She had a rough childhood, yet because she found her source of strength (Naruto), she never let it get to her. Despite the fact that others in similar positions like Sasuke and Neji cracked and gave in to their hatred, she was resilient enough to maintain her kind, gentle and peaceful nature.

She is also one of the most loyal people one will ever meet. During the chūnin exams, the main reason why she hesitated in giving Naruto medical ointment and cheering for him was that she didn't want it to seem like she was turning her back on Kiba, her teammate and friend. It also shows in the fact that she has maintained a steady crush/infatuation/love for Naruto for years without it ever changing from him.

Weaknesses:
Physical→ Though Hinata is trained in hand-to-hand combat, she is extremely weak and slow. Even most "normal" humans could be stronger than her and even faster. This is somewhat justified in that she doesn't need physical strength in order to cripple an opponent, but her speed is lacking enough that one could dodge her attacks. Or so her databook stats for her strength and speed imply, along with her fights with Neji and, more recently, Pein.

Mental→ While Hinata may take a while to think about her next course of action, often this backfires as she then overthinks herself into failure. And while she has developed something of a backbone, words of discouragement and scolding does affect her and will keep her from a plan of action, like when Kō told her she would be nothing more than a burden to Naruto if she interfered in his fight and she did listen until that fight went even more wrong for Naruto and she acted instinctively.

Because she is easily discouraged and still bears some of the self-consciousness from being berated much of her childhood, she is socially awkward in most situations. She doesn't always say what she means, nor does she say it concisely; physical displays of affections are a sure-fire way to reduce her to a stuttering, blushing mess; she doesn't know how to react to compliments, and she will sometimes apologize for things she doesn't need to.

Emotional→ Just as this is her strongest area, it is also her weakest. Hinata is, at times, too empathetic, too kind, and too gentle to be a good heiress or ninja. She looks for the good in people, even those hated by a village (such as with Naruto), and she will do all she can to ensure that those she considers her "precious people" are safe and happy. This even includes getting into curb-stomp battles to protect someone from an enemy (Naruto from Pein) despite knowing she'll likely die, or to protect someone from themself (Neji from himself/his world view) despite knowing she would lose and be beaten badly. Basically, she has little self-preservation when it comes to those she cares about or anything she feels strongly about to fight for.

First Person:
As odd as this is to say... Um, I-I'm actually reminded of Konoha. It has the same small feel, and...the housing, too. It's nice to know we are all at least close together.

But, um-

[ there's a rustle of clothing and maybe a bordering-on-annoyed sigh ]

-um, I-I don't think that...this dress. Does that mean someone undr-ah, nevermind... I think I-I don't really want to know that answer. But I would like them back. If it's not too much trouble, that is.

And, um, I-I'm certain that I don't remember having wings...before waking up here. Wherever here is, that is... And I-I think I'd remember growing them. So, um, I suppose I'd just like some answers.

Third Person:
The first thought to go through Hinata's mind upon waking was that she was colder than normal. Though she was used to having cold feet and toes from wearing sandals almost all the time, she was unused to feeling the wind against her bare legs. That was the second thing she noticed.

For the kind of missions she normally went on and the training she did, having bare legs was rather stupid and a good way to have them more easily bruised and hurt. Not to mention, dresses and shorts just weren't her thing. In fact, she was certain that aside from her funeral clothes and maybe one or two clan outfits, she didn't own a single dress, skirt or pair of shorts. And yet, she was wearing a dress. A white dress. White was more of Neji-nii-san's color, not hers.

"My...my clothes," she murmured before she could stop herself. She was in an unexpected situation where she had no answers; speaking, no matter how softly, was a stupid thing to do. Especially if this was a kidnapping. Though she didn't even know who would want her of all people these days.

Yet when she heard no one approaching, she breathed a sigh of relief. For now, she was safe. Well, safe in a manner of speaking. A quick glance around showed she was in a forest-one that wasn't near Konoha because she knew all the forests near it-and none of her clothes were in sight. Not even her jacket. And that jacket was what she really wanted to have, at least it would help her feel less exposed.

With nothing better to do except for think through possible scenarios of what happened, she allowed herself to fall on her back. It helped with thinking. But that was when she noticed the second change to her appearance with a groan.

"Wings," she said. For a second, she stopped breathing as she reached behind her to touch them with her hands. Just to prove that they were real. "Wings... No, genjutsu! Kai!" she said and did her best to expel enough chakra to release it. When it didn't work she tried again, using more chakra and adding a little more force to her words. Because one thing was sure, this couldn't be reality at all.
