Character Information
General
Canon Source: Soul Eater
Canon Format: Anime
Character's Name: Death the Kid
Character's Age: Kid looks around the age of 16/17, but because he’s a Shinigami, actually significantly older. It’s never officially been said one way or the other, but most people are under the assumption that he’s older
What form will your character's NV take? A compact mirror with Shinigami-sama’s mask on the outside of it. It’ll have voice and video capabilities, as is typical of mirrors in Death City, and in order to send text, Kid needs to fog up the mirror and write out the letters one by one which will take a while because they have to be perfect.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Without his weapons, Liz and Patti, around, he doesn’t have all of his abilities intact, but it’s stated that he really doesn’t need a weapon to fight. Without the two of them, he is very adept at hand-to-hand combat, using a skill known as Death God Martial Arts. He also has the ability to see people’s souls and tell their character from that. As he gets older and stronger the three Lines of Sanzu that are on Kid’s hair connect and he gets more powerful abilities related to his Shinigami-ship, however, from where I’m taking him in canon, he won’t really be able to use that unless he gets himself in a ridiculously out-of-hand situation.
Weapons: Considering his two main weapons are people, the only weapon he’ll be bringing with him is his flying skateboard, Beelzebub. He can spawn it from his hand so “No Skateboarding” rules won’t be keeping him down. It might not seem like much of a weapon, but he can use it to cut through things and hit people if he flips it through the air.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:
Warning, it's spoilerrificPoint in Canon: Shortly after the Kishin is awakened by Medusa.
Character Personality: Kid has a major obsession with making things completely and utterly perfect. Perfection, according to his standards, means symmetry. He goes to extreme measures to make sure that everything in his life is completely symmetrical, to the point where even something like a picture being off a millimeter will cause him to have basically a panic attack. As a result, he hates his appearance because the three white stripes on his bangs only appear on one side. This all indicates that he has obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) which manifests itself as an extreme aversion to disorder and chaos and a need for things to be just so. He also perhaps suffers from a minor form of depression, considering every time he’s surrounded by something asymmetrical or reminded of his hair, he falls on the ground and rants about how he’s disgusting trash that doesn’t deserve to live or something along those lines. In more extreme cases, he coughs up blood and faints. His OCPD gets him into serious trouble occasionally, because he will absolutely refuse to attack an enemy who is perfectly symmetrical. Though the flip side is he will go into a berserker frenzy of an attack if he’s facing against an asymmetrical enemy.
Other than that, he actually acts mature for his (relative) age, keeping a cool head in tense situations and being very sophisticated and serious - assuming he manages to focus on something other than symmetry. On the flip side of that, he can also act very much like a - if you’ll excuse the pun - kid by enjoying doing tricks on his skateboard.
One of Kid’s more redeeming, and less embarrassing, character traits is his loyalty. He cares deeply about his friends and will do everything in his power to keep them from being hurt.
Conditional: Personality developent in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: Take on the job of pseudo-Grim Reaper and protect people from the Darkness; considering the theory of them being souls trapped on the island, he’d feel it was his duty to carry out his father’s job while he’s here. Possibly Kid’ll also try and get enough money saved up to fund the opening of a symmetrical skatepark somewhere in the City.
