The street light hadn't even turned completely off that day, but a kitchen in one of the houses was already busy. A boy was checking on things on stove, not for long though, since a woman interrupted his busy ness.
"Matsumoto Jun! Give me one good reason for not throwing you out of my kitchen!" she roared angrily.
"oh, hi mom." the boy called Jun answered shortly, but his hand still busily stirred the dark compound on the stove.
"don't you just ‘hi’ me young man. What are you doing?" the woman approached his son, her hand picking up a glass bowl filled with white dough.
"mom! Don't! Don't touch anything, I haven't finish yet." her son quickly stopped her action, his face was full of concentration that never been seen before.
"what are you doing Jun?" she stood helplessly beside her son.
"i'm making chocolates for Satoshi-kun." Jun answered, bright pink blush were adoring her cheeks. He had secretly Google how to make a chocolate, he thought he could finally confess his feeling to the older boy that lives next to his house.
He never once thought he would fall for the older, but all those days he spent with the man made him realize how he was actually needs the boy beside him. The only problem was, he didn't know how Satoshi would react. As far as he concerned, he thought Satoshi just take him as a younger brother that needed his protection. How he wished the position could be changed.

Jun can't help wondering why the class bursts into laughter once he walked to the front when teacher called for him to finish the equation. He turned around only to see the class laugh even louder. His confused look seemed to make the laugh roared even more. But it seemed it wasn't so amusing for his teacher.
"so, who stick this note to Matsumoto-kun?!" she roared angrily, pulling a piece of paper from Jun's back. She fiercely slammed the paper onto her desk, making Jun saw what was written there, 'toad Prince won't get chocolate'. Jun looked down his feet, it must be that boy doing. He looked to the corner of the room where Sakurai seated, he hates that boy, totally. It wasn't the first prank he ever did to him, and he didn't know when it will ended.
"okay, here's the deal, if none of you confess who did it, then I will send the whole class to detention room. Clear?" his teacher's words get him looked up at her. It wasn't a lie if Satoshi, his senior told him how scary Ms. Kitagawa can be when she's mad.
The whole class broke into loud protest, especially the girls, they all against the idea to stay longer in the school, especially that particular day. But Kitagawa sensei just leaned beside her desk, arms folded in front of his chest and raised one her eyebrows, challenging the culprit to confess.
"sensei, what if he's the one who make the note himself? Maybe he wants to get attention in this valentine day, since no one paid him any attention." Sakurai stood up and said his theory. How Jun wished he could just strike the boy arrogant face. Who in his right mind would write that kind of note and stick it on himself, Jun stared at him in disbelief.
"really? That's interesting thought, but still, you all have to stay after school today, if no one confess to me." Kitagawa sensei cleaned up her desk as the bell ringed, ending her lesson and signaling lunch break.

Jun held his head down as he exited his class after detention over. It was hell come to reality when all the classmate cursing him, blaming him for the detention they all jd to go through, only one though that's stood up for him, a boy named Aiba if he's not mistaken. But now they all call him toad Princess. Jun hanged his head low, hiding his tears and fastening his step to one place he could consider his private heaven, he still have one goal to do that day.
He wiped off single tear on the corner of his eyes before he opened the door which titled 'Art Club'. He took a great relieved breath as he closed the door again only to find a boy stood in front of wide canvas, painting seriously until his lips slightly open. The face was so enticing for jun. The clear focused eyes that jun couldn't divert his sight away, he just stood there amazed by the view.
"so Kitagawa finally letting you go I see." the boy slowly turned his head facing Jun. The light was shining from his back making the chubby face glowed and more breathtaking for Jun. He pouted, and strode to the other boy.
"you right Satoshi-kun, she really is the devil herself." Jun slumped himself on the floor beside the older boy's chair.
"and she made you cry?" the long finger softly stroked the corner of his eyes, made Jun jolted a little from that touch. He didn't care if those fingers were covered with chalk and it smeared all over his cheek. The touch were what he been longed for this whole day. The simple touch that could make him forget everything and brought up a smile in his lips. He smiled at 'his' Satoshi, as wide as his bracket allowed him, hoping the other knew how he had been his harbour since the Ohno family first moved next to his house.
"Is this the painting for your art school scholarship?" Jun decided to divert the elder's attention, he couldn't worry Ohno, not when the boy himself need to focused in his dream of becoming an artist. Jun looked at the blue sea paintings, the full moon on top right corner and fishes swimming, jumping out of the water, as if enjoying the full moon. The painting was so real that Jun wished he could swam in that clear sea. Jun waited for couple of minutes, before he finally turned, since the other didn't say anything. He surprised to see Ohno was looking closely at him.
"yes, still need one main focus of the painting though." Ohno was slowly diverted his eyes from him, but Jun didn't help feeling a bit lonely that he no longer have the kind eyes on him.
"shall we go home now?" Ohno put down his scalpel, stroked Jun's head before he finally stood up taking his bag. Jun stood up hesitantly, he fidgeted on his feet wondering what was the best time to give the chocolate to Ohno. But during the time he was thinking, Ohno had covered his painting and ready to turn off the light. He ran after the older quickly rather than being locked up in the room.
They walked side by side to the gate, passing wide empty yard as pupils had went home long before. It wasn't eerie, but calming for Jun. This was the time he love his school more than any other time. This time no one could bully him, or he didn't need to pretend he was invisible or merely a wallflower. This time of the day was when he could walk with his head held high beside a boy that had understand him more than himself. But the walk was never that long since they were caught by a heavy rain that poured down instantly. He let himself being dragged by the older, so they could stop under a canopy of nearby store.
"you forgot your umbrella right?" it wasn't a question that been asked by Satoshi, it was merely stating the fact. Yes, Jun forgot his umbrella, assuming that the rain should be over by this time, but his assumption was wrong apparently. They stood close to each other as the canopy was barely covering their body. Jun tried his best to calm his jumping heart inside his chest. They had been friends since the beginning, standing close was usual of what friends do, right? But Jun still find himself flustered, he turned to see the elder, and thought the cold wind had made his cheeks blush in a pretty pink.
Jun held his bag closely, covering it from the rain, then it struck him, this should be the best time for him to give out his handmade chocolate. Slowly, he pulled the box and handed it to his standing partner.
"I... I... Made this, it's not sweet, so... So maybe you can eat it." Jun smoothed the blue ribbon that tied the plastic together.
"a..and.. It's a bite size, so... It..." jun bit his lips in attempt to stop his blabbering. That and Ohno's hand suddenly covered his that still holding the chocolates.
"Jun, can I interpret it as it is?" Ohno looked closely to his eyes, that jun swore the smaller had read all his heart from his eyes.
"w...eh..what?" Jun confusedly answering the older.
"so happy, I always wait for this Valentine's chocolate." Ohno pulled the ribbon open and pop in a chunk of chocolate into his mouth. Jun stared at the man, he knew the other's were not so good with sweets, always refused any chocolate given to him. But the same guy was enjoying the melting chocolate he made this morning. He chuckled seeing chocolate smeared from the corner of his lips, softly Jun cleaned the chocolate off, earning himself a smile that made his heart race even faster than a rally.
"I want my candies then." Jun hid his embarrassment a loud laugh as Ohno pulled his hand, ran to their house.

"Jun, are you okay?" Satoshi's voice made jun jolted a second, it came with soft knock on his bedroom door, his mom must had the elder coming in. Jun cursed himself, looking at his scattered shirt on bed. It was a rare thing that Satoshi asked him out alone without their family and Jun hopes got high, especially since the date that Ohno chose, 15 March, he hoped he would get candies today, a reply for his chocolates a month ago.
"Jun, answer please." the knock got harder and Satoshi's tone got more intense than before, a sign for Jun to answer or he got more worrisome.
"I, i'm fine Satoshi kun, please wait a moment downstairs, mom making cookies, you can wait with her can't you?" Jun answered, frantically searching a decent shirt for his first 'date'. How he wished it was the term that Ohno would use too. He heard mumbling 'OK' before footsteps were leaving his door. Satoshi must had come downstairs to his mom, he knew how his mom likes Satoshi a lot, she won't mind accompanying him for a while. At least until Jun could decide his mind on what to wear.
He finally found his purple lucky charm T-shirt. Jun looked at his mirror and can't stop scrunched his face. It seemed no matter what he chose to wear, he still the lanky awkward teenager. He hated his thick hair that strikes out everywhere above his head. He hate the bracket on his teeth that despite his attempt to hide them, will always be shown, which was the reason he hates to smile wide. He hates his thick eyebrow that looked like covering half of his face, he tried to trimmed them but his mother found out and scolded him almost an hour for it. He hates the baggy blue jeans that suppose to hid his skinny thighs. He hates himself a lot. But Ohno was the one told him that people were judged by their inner not outer. Thus made Jun loves the older.
Jun startled when a hand stopped his attempt to fix his hair. After good 15 minutes, they were finally left his house, but he couldn't count how many times he had try to fix his hair until they were arrived in the sea aquarium, where Ohno thought him.
He stared at the hand in his before looking up to see the owner.
"stop messing with your hair, you look great." Ohno told him and Jun simply believe what the guy said. He nod shyly, trying to pull his hand but Ohno didn't let him, in fact, the older started linked their hand together and pulled him deeper into the giant fish tank. He knew that people started to stare at them and he slowly tried pulling his hand again. He can't stop feeling guilty that a guy as cool as Ohno be seen walking around, hand in hand, with a nerd like him.
"Satoshi kun, look, a shark." Jun pointed with his free hand, diverting Ohno's attention from his silent rejection. Ohno stepped forward into his personal area, circling his hand around Jun's skinny waist, ignoring all the stares. Jun looked to the elder, seeing his eyes gleaming with happiness.
"I want to fish them some day." Satoshi mumbled, his eyes kept following the shark movement as if he were envy of it. Jun just laughed at him, relaxing himself in Satoshi's hand. They walked around the big tank until Jun swore he could name all the fishes they saw there then it was almost dark when they finally out, Ohno didn't let go of his hand the long way their taking the stroll. It made Jun grinned to no end.
Satoshi then brought him to small open cafe in a park near there, it was rather new and Jun once said he wants to see the cafe. So there they were sat face to face with one warm chocolate drink between them and a black coffee at their side.
"you sure don't really like sweets." Jun laughed seeing Ohno scrunched his face for the sweetness of the chocolate.
"but yours is perfect, you should open your own cafe." Ohno looked at him, giving up in his try to drink the chocolate and settle with the black coffee instead.
"if I ever made a cafe, will you help me decorate it?" Jun asked playfully. It was still too long for him to think about his future. He was just 16, there would still another 10 years at least before he could fulfill whatever it was he wants.
"of course i will. I'll make your cafe full of paintings and be number one in Japan." Ohno promised him with biggest grin on his face, making Jun laughed along him.
"the cafe can wait, i need the restroom now." Jun smiled widely, rise to his feet and went to the restroom area.
Finishing his businesses quickly, he went out seeing his date was sitting on the bench near him. He was rather disappointed, he thought they would still walked around and maybe Satoshi would give him his answer for his chocolate, truth to be tell, he was waiting for his candy in the white day. But it seemed it was just a dream. He covered his disappointment with a smile when the other passed him his bag and Jun followed the other steps to their houses.
