ACHERON COMPLETED!

Feb 11, 2009 02:31

So I finally gathered my courage and picked up Acheron, which I've kept on the shelf for almost six months now.
When I went to the book signing all of my fellow fans were all like Part One is so in your face about Acheron's past and it heartbreaking. I was actually kinda nervous about reading it. So I put the thing off for several months and had a hard time picking it up and opening the damn thing.

But once I got started I couldn't put it down and as bad (mild understatement) considering the abuse both sexually and physically that Acheron had to endure. It wasn't anything that was ever graphically explained. Most of the abuse was implied, but never was it deeply delved into, which trust me is a good thing. The sign of a good writer is the ability to give you enough information so that you understand the gravity of the situation without having to explain everything in detail. So that you can follow the story and all the bad but are still able to stomach it and continue on.

I am glad that a happy ending was finally given to our poor harbinger and that Artemis finally got her ass handed to her, though not to the extent that everyone was probably hoping for. But at least Tory laid down the law and we know that she will not be crossing T anytime in the near future.

So the book was finished in 2 (yes count them 2) days, and let me tell you that was not small book. I am most pleased with myself. Dead After Dark soon fell by the wayside the next day.

Earlier today Dream Warrior arrived, autographed and all. I can hardly wait to start that one, but I think I'm going to have to breakdown and purchase One Silent Night. I know that the books are good stand-alone's, but it is so much funnier when you read everything in order, this way should something come up, your know all the inside jokes and can have a better time with the characters.

Yup definitely heading to Borders tomorrow, must remember to pay in cash and only buy one book. Must resist temptation.
