I am very impressed not only that you needed your digging flannels to go down to breakfast, but that you had them with you!

Sounds like a day for reading, researching, writing (a Halloween story perhaps?) and resting (the four R's!). :-D

I know this climate! Another day like that and I will be sleeping in my thermals.

Ick, ick, ick! It looks so cold and nasty - going back to bed sounds good. At least it is warm and your have your computer!

Gorgeous scenery--and how nice to be able to view it from indoors :) What a nice looking little town, I would never have expected the houses to be the colors we can see on the right.

scares the evil fairies away - the garish colours frighten them off so they don't bother the home.

.....this may or may not be true, but it's the explanation I was given as a child and i didn't question it.

ta-da. Meany Tourist Boarding Info. Very popular in fishing villages around Britain although much rarer to almost non-existent in fishing towns in the area of the Danelaw.

Oh, good grief! If I was you, I'd pull the curtains and get straight back into bed (with laptop, naturally, and probably also thermals because... Skye.) Do they do breakfast in bed? You wouldn't even have to leave the nice cosy room if they did breakfast in bed.
