Wow it looks Mediterranean. If you’d asked me I’d have said it was some Spanish fort.

I particularly like the lion btw, he’s very stylish.

Is the doggie okay in the unexpected heat?

He gets a morning walk and an evening walk - last night we went into the park after 10pm and i just sat on a bench enjoying the cool air. The rest of the day he pretends to sleep or nips out into the garden. I have not taken him in the car for over a week - i think he would die in it!

You don't have air conditioning in your car? It's automatic here (and of course breaks down periodically and takes a fortune to fix).

The light and shadows and the rosy bricks also made me think Spain or maybe a forgotten corner of Dalmatia. Of course once you notice the statuary, it's pretty obviously northern :) Had you been there before? In some ways those structures are more amazing than the skyscrapers we build now. They're definitely more atmospheric!

No, I have never been before. It is awesome as the shell is still standing with its corner towers and some of the lower rooms. Some of its corridors were apparently used in Outlander.

It still flows with water on Sundays in the summer, and I am sorry I missed that.

Your photos are beautiful! I am particularly intrigued by where you were standing when you took the one looking down into the courtyard and how you got there.

I'm especially glad that the fountain still works. The carvings are wonderful, on the building and the fountain, but it makes it better when the sculpture works, too!

I've just posted pictures of the tower I was perched on.
I'll need to go back some Sunday and catch the fountain working.
