Luffy is so tiny!!! He is a tiny rookie caught up between the monsters who've ruled the seas - the world - for the past 22 years! And Oda is doing it realistically! (I mean... for manga XP) There is no crazy power-up, there is no: "this child, among all these super-powered adults, is the only one who can save the day/the world/Konoha He gets crushed. But he's still going to save the day, because... he's Luffy and people like him and... something. :P

Oh Luffy...I do see him demanding yet another hormone boost from Iva and Iva protesting that it'll drag his lifeline down by a lot and he may not even survive the aftereffects, but Luffy stubbornly telling him to do it and... ;_; But this is Luffy, he can't just sit back and wait for the battle to go on without him! Not when he feels he can do something. I mean, in the past he was allowed to sit out certain fights by getting eaten by snakes or getting lost chasing a shadow, but now he doesn't have his nakama to keep fighting for him until he comes back/recovers! Sure, he's got Whitebeard and his allies, but they're not people he knows can take care of things like Zoro and Nami and the rest! It's really becoming apparent how much trouble being without his nakama is for Luffy
