This whole thing with CG disappearing indefinitely has made me realize how truly fragile and tenuous the online world can be for a writer. In addition, I have recently heard from a number of readers, asking me if AWOF can be found anywhere else. So I have decided to archive my fics in at least one other place. :-) Yeah, well, I guess I had a good scare! The first thing I did was to back up all the chapter files on discs. And then I started going down the list, seeing what still needed to be added on at PA. I'm almost done, just have to work on getting most of AWOF posted there. But I've made a good start with that.

Don't you have your own file copies of all your work? If I were you, I would copy everything you've got on LJ onto Word docs and then save them onto discs, if you don't already have them there. It would be awful for you to lose your wonderful work!!! (and what a loss for the rest of us too!)

I do a TON of tweaking after I've posted, so I know what you mean. What I've done is open up the HD file as I'm editing at the archive, so that any changes I make there are also then made in the file copy. Another way I've done it, the easier way really, is to cut and paste the posted, tweaked copy into a Word doc, and then save that. That would be a lot faster, I think.
