Truth from The Sound of Music LIVE!

There's a line in the Sound of Music that I love. "When God closes a door he always opens a window." Now, I don't know if Carrie Underwood said that Thursday night because my mother kicked me out of the living room for being too snarky (BUT IT'S VAMPIRE BEEEL! WHY ISN'T HE SAYING SOOKEH IS MINE!), but I do love it ( Read more... )

I so pleased you decided to stick around with us. I do avoid leaving comment on posts that get a bit stressed about fandom. I'm not versed in things like the Bechdel Test or different psychology theories. My life was set in a pattern of taking care of others early on which kept me from college. I just love my fandom and let others take it apart.

Merry Christmas and I hope life just keeps getting more awesome for you.

Carrie did say that line! And yes, it's a good principle to remember. I'm glad you stuck around.

I think back on that time, and roll my eyes at what a drama queen I can be, but back then I was hurting so badly that acting out felt like the only way to express how devastated I was.

??? To me, acting out is more like, having tantrums, demanding your way, exhibiting regressive behaviors, being argumentative and obnoxious for no good reason; getting drunk, stoned or high, going on benders, being destructive etc. It's having an outsized and disproportionate reaction to a situation. I'm not seeing that here on your part Lexi; you were legitimately hurt. Anyone would be in the same situation. Did you handle it "perfectly"? Maybe not but what does that even mean, anyway? the thing is, you handled it, you didn't let it destroy you, you openly asked for support and feedback and best of all, you're still here, still kicking. Give yourself a lot of credit!
