I hope you do get to have some time in the US for yourself. I remember my ex-coworker having to get the biometric passport sometime this year, and I *seem* to remember it not taking 30 days, but I'm not sure.

And the housesitting situation sounds really exciting!

Finding a new job on the other hand... my sympathies. ;)
