I can’t say that I’ve ever read or seen King Lear which Ran is based off of but I can attest to its similarities to Shakespeare’s work. Ran is a Japanese/samurai version of the classic work King Lear. It is an amazing movie, with a great story, great character developing, amazing costumes and sets and absolutely gorgeous locations. I find it hard to start this review and for that matter throughout the review without using insane amounts of profanity. This movie makes you feel like a man, a cursing killing blood thirsty man.
