Less non-fruit sugars and non-whole wheat breads. More lean meats and legumes for protein. Many, many more veggies. More fruit instead of juice or sugary desserts. I've been reading labels for caloric, fat, protein and nutritional content, too. I've been eating brown rice instead of jasmine or other kinds of white rice.

Water and teas (with nothing added to them) really help to fill me up and are calorie free, and they are good for hydration. Also eating about every three hours boosts the body's metabolism, which help you digest foods better and burn more calories.

I also try to avoid elevators, taking the stairs instead. I walk more. I took a pilates class twice a week for an hour at a time.

Right now I'm cutting back on wheat and corn and trying to eat more squash, root vegetables, and other types of grains instead.

I hope this helps.

thank you, that is helpful.

can you buy brown rice in bulk?

if you ever have recipes to share I would love to see them :)

Legumes, I like them but I never know what to include them in...

You can absolutely buy brown rice in bulk. In fact Sonoma Market and Whole Foods both carry it in their bulk bins, and I think the fruit basket might have pre-packaged bags of it.

I am getting back into working out again on a regular basis too. The hardest part for me, however, is changing my diet. I love food to a fault and it is my weakness and keeps me from loosing weight. Also, I can't loose too much because I already picked out the style, and more important, size of my wedding dress. However, after the wedding I am going to try my best to really loose a good amount of weight, also in a healthy way.

Good luck. If you need food suggestions for substitutions, just let me know. I also have lots of tasty recipes, like curry. Yum!

Knowing how to eat and having recipes to cook isn't the problem. The problem is that I don't do what I know I should and know how to do.

Stop buying things you shouldn't eat, and then they won't be in the house for you to cook and eat.
