Why does that bit in HitV make you want to throw the book at the wall? :(

And. And oh my gosh, that book. Feelings.

*takes off tumblr hat* Right, now I can speak in full sentences. :P That book was just... it was just harrowing, is the word I always use to describe it. Bleak, because of the relentless pressure on Crane and the rest to produce a cure, people dying, the protags' complete helplessness at their own magic. And when Lark pours everything she has into a piece of thread (an amulet) to protect Rosethorn and it doesn't work - that just gets me every time. Crane, too, is magnificent in that book; he's tired to the bone and still works like a machine to get the cures. As, of course, does Rosethorn, but Crane has to direct everyone else, and while he's not the most people-oriented person, he gets the job done.

Excuse me, I didn't mean to spew HitV speculations all over your LJ. Also, I'm mistrali from Glake, in case you missed the name beside my LJ. :)

Ah, okay, because I think that's used (or I've always heard it used) as someone being so angry that they're done with the book and they'd like to chuck it against the wall. It's usually used of stories which are so terrible that they make you want to strangle someone. Which is why I was confused, but if you're doing it for the feels, then I heartily approve ( ... )
