Ok, the doctor and I had a talk. Translation, the doctor talked and I listened. I'm in trouble! Physically I mean. I need to lose 100 pounds, bring down my chloresteroll, and my blood pressure. This is it. I'm in a pre-diabetic state. I don't have diabetes, but the numbers make me a very good candidate for it. So I will lose. I have to. The end. ( Read more... )

I've had that talk with my doctor - he practically begs me to lose weight. But everything I like is sedentary, and if there's yummy food in the house, I will eat it. So, whatever. Even though the other day I WAS using the treadmill...

Good luck with the diet. I'm trying to lose a much smaller amount and it's driving me up the wall. The trick, I find, is to stay hydrated. Water helps hold off the hunger pangs.

And, as you discovered today, prepared food is Evil.

I'm doing a modified low-glycemic-impact approach (ie, somewhere between Atkins and a bodybuilder's diet) and that works for me because a lo-carb menu kills the appetite reflex (no feeling hungry all the time and obsessing about when one can have another meal) and it works for me. It doesn't work for everyone.

Anyways, good luck with it, and I'm glad you've got a buddy - that *really* helps.
