I've decided to keep a little journal thing of books I am reading, so I don't forget them, especially if I like them. It's a bit obsessive, but it makes me happy.

The Review itself-
*gushes* This is such a good book. Now I have to read the first and last in the series (I picked up the middle of a triology without realizing it; go figure). The characters, the world, it's all awesomeness.
Characters
Cal- I like him. He's the typical 'hero' character, but there is something besides that that draws you to him. He's flawed, yet strong; a true leader.
Goldie- Okay, I really, really like Goldie. The mostly-lunatic to mad-wizard thing he has going on is awesome. I feel sorry for him though. By the end of this book you just want to sit and cuddle him till he feels better (which may be a long time).
Colleen- She's kick ass. She's the kind of person I'd want to be in a post-apocolyptic world.
Doc- Great love for Viktor going on over here. He's so steady, and yet plauged by his own demons in a way that makes you connect and sympathize with him.
Magritte- I didn't feel real connected with her, but maybe that is because we didn't get anything really from her point of view. Sad, though. ;-;
Enid- Love the bluesman. Love I say.
Howard- I'm not sure about him yet. As Goldie says though, he does have the tendency to grow on you.
Pairings
Colleen/Doc- YES! *dances about* In the beginning the writers seemed to be going for Coleen/Cal and I was all 'nooo, Doc loves Colleen even if he is in denial and it would be so damn cool if the older guy and the young warrior chick got together and they are so much better than Colleen/Cal.' And then it HAPPENED. PRAISE.
Goldie/Magritte- The author's didn't elaborate much on their relationship, probably to help ease the ending of the book, so I wasn't really pulled either way, though since it was vauge I was probably more for the not wanting it.
Goldie/Cal- Would be totally awesome. I doubt it will happen, but it should.
All in all, wonderful book. Primal was a bit weird (o.O), but the authors got through it well and the entire book just played with your emotions (in a good way), allowing you to get immersed in teh characters and the world. *makes happy sounds* I also loved how they had a mix of races and characters from all walks of life. It makes me want to learn Yiddish and Russian though. O.o I have picked up 'boi baba' though. =D
Quotes
Damn. I should have thought ahead and made notes. There's something about Colleen saying, "I should have known that words against his precious Goldie were not ones Cal wanted to hear." I went: score! Slashy!
