15minuteficlets They do not stop in the towns often, as if terrified that if they let anyone even touch on their personal little circle that they will be torn apart. So they are content to be by themselves, a little pair in a world of cliques, safe from the dangers of those they do not know.
Nuo does not like strangers because they are loud. She hates to hear their endless stream of words that have no meaning but to fill up the silence (and it is not because she is jealous of the ability, she swears to herself). She prefers the quiet, where all communication is done through looks and touches, for she knows that a finger whispering across her cheek will always convey more than a million useless words.
Tis’an dislikes strangers because the way they look at him. He is odd even for his kind, with legs that he was not born with and a body that causes him to tower over most. He sees the way they watch him, warily, like he is hovering just on the brink of losing his cool and taking them all down with him. So he stays close to Nuo, who never bat an eyelid at his oddness, basking in her confindent airs and unspoken understanding.
So they continue, making there ways through towns as if Death himself follows behind, fleeing to the wilderness where there are no strangers to speak or stare. They revel in familiarity, in silence, and the knowledge that they have no need to risk the dangers of those they do not know, because they have each other to hold onto.
