Lucifer did not fall because of his greed, but because of his love...
A/N: I do feel that almost all heavenly peoples are androgynous, so it is very hard to choose what pronouns to use (her or he) so I used both (I dislike it, because it tends to feel demeaning. A wandering skunk is an 'it,' not God). EDIT: Now I am using a set of "nonsense," but androgynous pronouns that
blythe_rue pointed out to me. Thank you! :D
No, I'm not Christain. This is a piece of fiction. Please refrain from jumping my case and screaming profanity at me. I doubt any God condones that (okay, maybe Aries, but he's special).
The Fall of Lucifer
The humans had been given to their new home, and all of heaven rested. They spend much time wandering the new Earth, gazing around themselves in awe and wonder, but soon they began to create a life for themselves. God was greatly pleased by this, and sie was instantly overcome with love for them. However, one thing made hir frown: the humans sie had created acted without thought about their actions, doing what they willed even when it was detrimental to those around them.
Sie spent many moons in thought, gazing down upon the new people. Soon, sie realized what was needed: a teacher. Sie turned hir gaze towards hir first-born, the angels.
“Lucifer!” sie called after a great deal of consideration. In an instant the great angel was before God, smiling up at hir creator.
“What may I do for your honour, Tanii?” Lucifer asked, using the angel’s endearing word for God.
“My new people wander their world, bereft of morals and regrets for their actions; unlike you and your kin, they have no inborn knowledge of wrong or right. They must have an example of wrong, of evil, to teach them how to differentiate between the two.” Lucifer gazed quizzically at God, cocking hir beautiful golden head.
“What do you wish me to do?” God sighed, hir breath gently ruffling Lucifer’s long hair.
“What I ask of you, Lucifer, shall not be easy, nor glorifying in the eyes of the humans.” God stood, placing hir ancient hands on either side of the cherub’s face. “I ask you to take on the form of that evil, let yourself become synonym with that terror, teach the humans what is wrong by giving them an example. They shall fear you, even hate you for it, but you will save many souls.” For an instant Heaven seemed cold as ice, for it was the first time in all of Eternity that the dreadful words of ‘fear’ and ‘hate’ had been spoken, but Lucifer did not waver.
“Not all will go towards good if we do this,” sie said, hir voice matter-of-factual. “Some will attempt to align themselves with the image I create.” God smiled to hear no trace of fear or hesitance, merely acceptance of the fact, in the great angel’s voice.
“No, not all will; however, it will be better to save some than lose them all. We have much time to turn their ways.” Lucifer nodded, before stepping away, looking God flush in the eye.
“I shall take this responsibility upon myself. Let them hate and fear me.” Sie let hir wings spread wide in a symbol of strength and resolution. “I shall still love them, Tanii, as I love you. I shall be their most devoted teacher.”
With those words, Lucifer descended from Heaven to the Earth, cloaking hir beautiful form in a terrible guise, and strode amongst the humans, who recoiled in terror and fled from hir gaze. They clung to each other long after sie had past, speaking in hushed tones of the new danger that had climbed, seemingly, from the bowels of the Earth.
“Micheal,” called God, head drooped in mourning for hir beloved subject that had bravely taken on a terrible responsibility. The seraphim came to hir, placing a comforting hand on the grieving deity’s arm.
“Yes, Tanii?”
“Go to the humans, and tell them that Lucifer has betrayed me,” sie said in a hollow whisper. “Tell them that sie is seeking power of hir own; cast hir name in a dark light, and tell them that sie is the evil that they must avoid and never follow.” Michael stared at God, aghast.
“I can not spread such blasphemy against my own friend!” sie cried, furious and hurt that his dearly loved creator would ask him to spit lies. God smiled sadly, looking up at the archangel for the first time, so that sie could see the tears of sorrow, the first mournful tears God had ever shed, drifting down hir cheeks.
“Lucifer will be touched to hear of your great loyalty, dear Michael, but sie has accepted the mission of teaching the humans of evil, and you must respect and honour hir sacrifice.” Michael suddenly understood what it was that his friend had done, and sie flew from God’s side, calling down to the angels of Heaven, telling them of the bravery and selflessness of Lucifer, so that all the heavenly voices raised to grieve and praise Lucifer for hir choice.
An hour later, mankind heard of Lucifer’s fall from Grace.
