absolute perfection. loved the unfolding of the rest of booth & brennan's story. brennan bonding with parker over science was great, as was their argument with booth about parker turning into a squint. i died laughing at "oh god, i just lost another year." *giggles some more* you characterise booth & brennan wonderfully. and the ending made me melt into a little b&b shipper puddle. sigh. it's an understatement to say i loved this story.
Wah, thank you - I spend most of my time in a B&B shipper puddle, so nice to hear I have some company ;) Your comments are just wonderful, I'm so grateful for your words and I'm so glad you liked the ending, it's probably my favourite bit too :)
I am completely obsessed with this, and came from FF.net to comment, and JUST NOW SAW that this INTENTIONALLY was supposed to allude to 17 People?? (Because of course when I read about the flowers, I thought about a man of occasion.) Right when I thought I couldn't love it any more, you have to go and be awesome.
Anyway, I cannot get over your attention to detail -- little things like Wood (Would) or Special Agent In Charge or the homey boutique between the Starbucks and the Subway made me smile. Your characterizations throughout are so spot-on and Nine/Thirty/Forty/Fifty was perfect, perfect.
Sorry for fangirling all over. Please keep writing.
No, no, fangirling is welcomed and appreciated! I indulge often and encourage it in others ;)
And heh, the actual back story to this fic is long and twisty, but essentially I was DEEP into one of my WW phases (I always find it funny that a person's life can be defined by the periods of time spent watching one episode of West Wing after another ;)) when the early early 100th ep spoilers were coming out. And I watched 17 People and the whole possibility for conflicting anniversaries vs the utter awesomeness of Josh/Donna kind of gave me plot bunnies. Except heh, the episode went a whoooole other way and I ended up writing something completely different, but this kind of... came back? I guess. And it worked - even better because of all the stuff we learned.
Sorry for fangirling you right back, come to think of it - but thank you for your lovely comment, I love getting the specifics as well :)
