A pond is not welcome in my basement:

So, the water softener this morning decided it wanted the basement to have a pond. It decided that the hoses which empty the water into the drainage pipe were no longer friends of that particular pipe and leapt out whilst spewing water in a fit of rage. Sucks you are having so much trouble. At this rate it seems like your whole house has been replaced in pieces, so hopefully you won't have so much trouble moving forward.

That is my personal hope. I am also getting things fixed by certified professionals each time instead of trying to do it myself. It may be more expensive, but it also means that the fixes are guaranteed to last. I also feel like I am adding value to my house when I do this as well.

I think that's a good idea. I know a lot of people (like my parents) who apparently get some sort of thrill from doing repairs themselves, but it doesn't always turn out so nice. Plus a pro can do stuff so much faster. Gary's dad likes to renovate houses, and his house has been under construction in one way or another for as long as I've known him. Who wants to live in a house with floors and walls constantly torn out? And who wants to work all day/week and then come home and work on their house all night/weekend? Definitely not me.
